VOD-scope?

Has anybody tried using a flexible borescope (inspection camera) to look at the VOD with the intake manifold still in place?

Any reason not to?

Yes, I know that pulling the manifold is the best way to assess things in the VOD. Been there.

Yeah but a cheap one can't look down the block holes. If you could get one with a flexible camera end it might work (medical grade, i.e. very expensive). The straight ones like you linked will show the big stuff (mouse nests) but not offer a very good view of what you really want to see. I will help find water pump/hose leaks though, and wires off sensors.

Thanks. I thought my post and the example link was about the flexible-cam ones. The mfgr name is Ridgid in this case but it isn't a rigid probe.

Want to be sure what kind will fit and that it will do more good than harm, like not knock anything off or crack the vac hoses in there.

I have a 'See Snake' by Ridgid and although I have used it several times it doesn't provide
any useful views. As was posted above if there was a flexible camera it would help.
I bought it specifically to look in the VOD but couldn't make head nor tails of anything.
I will admit I used it to look down my throat which was pretty scary and I don't
recommend it.

Thanks, yes, missed it in my 'borescope' search in the forum. Good example of what can be seen. Noting that the endoscope used has much higher reso than the tool in my example link.
