My gas struts/lift supports/gas springs, call them what you will, for my louvres are getting a little weak and I have been thinking about replacing them. DMCH sells them for about $20 each, which seems a decent price.
Through a little research I have found a vendor that makes both the standard black body (with a black nitride shaft) and an all stainless steel version. Price depends upon strut force
My existing struts have different part numbers on a blue sticker (4418-1637 and 4418-2991) and therefore seem to be manufactured by StrongArm. The 4418 model is rated for 30-39 force-pounds.
Based on 40 force-pounds rating then, the comparable list costs are about $17 for the standard and $53 for the SS.
$106 for a pair of small struts seems a lot but in particular I am unsure how the would look against the black background of the louvre.
Has anyone used them and/or have pictures of them installed?
