What are these studs supposed to be attached to?

While my car was on the rack today, (Getting a new fuel accumulator), I noticed three small studs under the car, (on each side behind the seats), that face forward.

One set is about where the doobie hole is behind the driver seat, and the other set under the battery box.?

Anybody have an idea what they are supposed to be attached to?

Here's a pic of the drivers side. The passenger side is the same. The three studs are in the middle of the pic.

George, These are the mounting points for your deflector plates on either side of the car. There should be two large shields one per side attached to these points.

If you want the deflector plates mine are gathering dust in my garage. They are supposed to smooth out the airflow under the car but it has been debated. For me they just are something else to rattle and get in the way.

They also keep water, rocks, and other debris from getting up in there. They can be a pain in the neck, especially when you want to inspect the TAB's. I would put them back on.

Perhaps somebody from the DMC factory team can elaborate on the why of the deflector plates (Nick Sutton, buyer at DMC)?

Pro's of those plates: all mentioned in this and other thread replies

Con's of those plates: also mentioned.
However the reporting of tearing axle boots seems to be a single occurance.
And yes, if one doesn't mount the plates as they have to be mounted, that can contribute to other damage.

Mine have been on and of several times on my previous and current D.
Never found one of them to have misplaced or detached itself in the meantime.

As they are part of the car's design: make sure they are on the car.

It's personal preference. Just because they came on the car from the factory does NOT mean that you need to make sure you keep them on the car. That's like saying that you must always leave the LAMBDA light in place because that's the way the car was designed. That's just B.S.

Do what you want and what makes you feel more comfortable. Many people keep them on their cars and are happy with them and many others took them off or never have had them on and are also happy with not one ill effect.
