Alpine 2.5 PRV-V6 Turbo

Here you have the 2.5 litre PRV-V6 Turbo engine which is "plug and play" with a DeLorean!

So...someone in the US or Canada could purchase this car and do an engine swap. This would be the closest you get to a "factory" Twin-Turbo, and possibly what DeLorean would have ended up with in the late 80s.

The gearbox will also fit, and AFAIK has the same specifications which were to be featured on the European DeLoreans.

The rest of the car could be parted out and put back on Ebay ;-)

I wouldn't want to mess up such a nice and unique car as the Alpine just for the engine. I would bet the fuel system, ignition, and computers would also have to be swapped out(maybe even having to rewire to add a few more relays in the fuse box...or reworking the fuse box area altogether). Also mentioned above, the plumbing would have to be reworked to fit all that into the DeLorean's engine bay. Probably not as easy as plug and play, and I doubt you would get much for the Alpine afterwards to justify the cost....Then again, people are forking over 7G's or more for an extra 40-50hp in a stage II package.

You can get an engine with all extras shipped to the us from Europe for half that cash.

That's a sweet car in its own right - no way I'd butcher it just for the engine and part it out!

Of course a few modifications is needed, that's why I wrote plug and play with "..." but you will find that the engine has the same engine mounts and will drop right in together with the gearbox.

Martin Faulks is on this site now and again and has been an excellent resource of info. I am sure the guys on the Alpine site would also have leads on engines and all the key bits to make it plug and play.
