Engine compartment woes

Poking around and found this wire just dangling around. It connects to that electric thing above it then goes nowhere.
Any advice?

Do you mean the other end of it connects to the underside of the diagnostic plug box that is ahead of your finger in the photo?

Is there any color coding on that wire? Looks like a 12ga or 14ga sort of white or beige color generic wire, which indicates some PO work. That and the fact that the bare end isn't terminated.

That wire comes for the underside of that electrical cube along with some wires from the wiring harness. It is grey in color and looks like what it once attach to it broke way from.

It's probably the wire from the TDC Pick-up sensor that's on the block.

A further guess is that unless you use the diagnostic socket this wire doesn't need it to be connected.

That looks like the piece Rich, it seems that the grey wire on mine is missing that plastic Lshaped connector. If there is no need for this to be connected then that's one more thing I can check off.

Yes, you're right Rich. I damaged mine (and repaired it) during my last engine pull. It's the pickup wire and is all but useless.

Sad but true! I look at it as a great achievement for someone who'd never changed his own oil before 2010. :)
