Anyone have the figures for the Cam profile for Stage 2 cams? (Duration and lift for the intake and exhaust.)

This shop has done a lot of great work for my friends.

I have the cam card from DPI's stage two, which is different from DMCCA (I cannot find their cam card, maybe someone else has it?)

EDIT: Actually now that I think about it, that card was from April '12. IIRC DPI has made some changes and that card may be invalid now.

Correct kris. It is also missing the indexing profile degree on how to cut the grind. Without the three digits to know where to start the lobe grind you can retard or advance the camshafts by grinding incorrectly.

There is no magic, perfect number. When you change any variable you may improve some aspects, at the expense of others.

I have Steger cams - they have certainly livened up the car a bit, but the idle suffers a lot, as can gas mileage obviously. Are you willing to have your car shake like a Harley when you are stopped at a light?

To get the right balance of what you want, even with a good specialist, can take a number of iterations. That could mean several sets of cams, and a lot of labor swapping them in and out. Kudos to Josh, et al, who have taken the time and risk in developing products for us. It seems to me at this point that if I wanted cams, but for whatever reason I did not want to go with one of the in-stock options, I'd still talk to Josh or Danny or whoever about getting a custom grind through them. Their learning curve seems invaluable. Whatever you can save by finding your own vendor and having them do the cams for you can get washed out pretty quickly if they don't nail it on the first try.

And emissions (if that matters where you live). I've had to get creative once a year on that front.

There is no magical part that you can just bolt on that will transform the motor into something else all by itself. If you do "improve" the cams you quickly discover that without a better induction and exhaust system it doesn't make much of a difference. The motor is an engineered SYSTEM and to modify any well engineered system you can't do that with only one element. The other point is well noted. To get any improvement you usually have to give up something. In this case it is a combination of fuel economy, increased emissions, and idle quality. Possibly also longevity. How much of each is a function of the exact grind of the cam. The only well documented bolt-on is a turbo system and even that has it's draw backs and limitations.
