Hi guys ,
I have in mind a modification which involves the heater system so I'm trying to fully understand its functioning.
http://store.delorean.com/c-363-7-1-3-heating-system.aspx
I know that there is a vacuum operated heater valve which closes the hot water flow coming from the head when you select MAX on the AC mode switch.
my question is about the "bleed adaptor" placed between the head and the heater valve.
is its purpose to be only an additional air bleeder for the air coming from the engine head or is about deviating the water coming from the head when the heater valve is closed?
if the right answer is the second (or both) I'm wondering about the different internal diameter of the water hoses, IIRC the heater hoses are 5/8" while the hose between the bleed adaptor and the bottle is 5/16" . Can the smaller diameter of the bleeder hose cause a decrese in the water flow from the head (because it basically is a restriction) ?
Best wishes

Your description basically states the main purpose. Pulling air from the harder to reach areas of the system. This shouldn't be considered a restriction either as the purpose is to skim the top of the coolant flow forcing any air into the overflow. It is not meant as a direct high flow pathway between the heater core lines and bottle even though it flows a considerable amount.

Thanks Josh!
I want to add a water heat exchanger, so I'm studying the water circuit. probably the simpler solution would be leave the "bleed adaptor" where it is, connect the heat exchanger in the water line between the head and the heater radiator, and get rid of the vacuum valve..

What do you need the extra heater exchanger for?

sorry, I did not specified it was an oil to water heat exchanger.
my friend with a biturbo PRV has a really nice heat exchanger which replaces pipe # 42 http://store.delorean.com/c-331-1-3-1-radiatorpiping.aspx
here it is mounted https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-zMlUqQOXM9w/T2zHgZXLb7I/AAAAAAAAIWE/3GwwTnQPEOw/s640/IMG_1272.JPG
he had a remarkable improvement over his stock set up. but those units are extremely expensive...
so I found a smaller heat exchanger originally fitted on the 2.5 turbo Alpines which would be perfect for my atmo engine..
