Has anyone successfully reused their original headliner fabric? My research here would say no, but my father had his original fabric reused successfully over 10 years ago in his 1987 300zx. It still looks awesome.

I'm a real stickler for original, so it would be my preference.

The problem is that the original fabric releases from its foam backing. To re-attach the fabric to the dry rotted foam, glue would seep through the fabric. Not worth the headache of attempting, in my opinion.

You would have to carefully remove the fabric and glue it to foam. Clean the backers up and then glue the fabric/foam to them. A lot of work and it may not come out well. Add to that the fabric is probably faded and discolored anyway. Try to find the best match of fabric in weave and color and then glue that to the backers.
