Fuel Pump - Original?

So I had to replace my fuel pump yesterday. The one that was in there was a Bosch unit, part number 0 580 254 957. Does anyone know if this is the original pump, or a replacement? The DeLorean website shows the original one, part number 110085, as no longer available. There is a replacement, part number 110085A, but it has no picture. I got the identical Bosch unit from my local Napa, so here's where my question comes in: If this is the original, is it no longer available due to price, and DMC has found a cheaper replacement? Napa's list price is $270ish (I don't pay nearly that :wink:), while DMC lists the replacement at only $99. Or is this Bosch one the replacement and DMC is giving us a killer deal on it?

Hi, The Bosch 957 pump is a replacement, and it is a good pump. I have been running one of these pumps for 10 years and it still holds good psi. Make sure your fuel tank is clean.

The $99 DMCH pump is not produced by BOSCH but I have been running it for a few years and it seems to run just as good as the BOSCH unit. The really early pumps had an internal check valve. Now all the pumps mount that check valve on top of the pump.

I used to have one of these and switching required also using a new dome nut (as the line uses a banjo bolt for the original style).

Toby Peterson said the reason they stopped selling the Bosch branded pumps was because the quality/reliability took a hit when Bosch moved production from Germany to the Czech Republic. He said the pumps were having high failure rates when they weren't being made in Germany anymore.

Both of mine say Czech Republic on them. The one that was in there, the housing corroded through and spit gas out a tiny pinhole above the boot (quickly emptying the tank while driving). I guess I'll see how long it takes for the replacement one to do something similar.

If you keep the cover on it and water away from it, it will never rot out like that.

That's my plan :) Although a fuel pump swap on this car is pretty damn easy. I'd take that over replacing the rad hoses any day!
