Engine bay wiring harness help

Hey guys, I'm working on a project DMC and was wondering if anybody had a link to a site that documented what each wire is for in the harness. I think a few years back I saw a dmchelp article about it but I cant find it anymore, its been years. Any help would be appreciated.

If your looking for a "wire list" type that documents every wire, gauge, color, splice, I have never seen that type of document. I wish they were available.

Hey Josh thanks for your help! However the chart or list im talking about broke down the wiring by which plug it was in the rear harness and each individual wire coming out of them.

Bitsyncmaster, I plan on doing something like that eventually. It bothers me to no end that the documentation is so lacking on how much current *should* be on the wire and what gauge everything is. Once I finally get around to this, I will post all of the docs I have on it.

That would be great. What really needs to be done is to get a harness, make a "wire board" (4 x 8 foot plywood) and disassemble the harness with labels on the "wire board" showing all info. I've done harness boards a long time ago. This was to make a harness. Usually a nail is placed at each wire termination and wire layout is also shown. Then when all the nails have a wire wrapped around them, you wrap the whole harnesses and put terminals on each wire.

Then if you need to make any changes and a new harness, it is easy.

To build on that:
- No electrical tape! Use harness tape which has no gooey adhesive
- Reroute the harness so that it does not run across the engine as it does now. I redid mine and it shortens the 12Vdc supply wires 2-3 feet. There is also 2 other wires that get shortened but I don't recall the function they support. But most importantly, it looks better and makes it easier to remove the intake manifold when the harness is out of the way.

So the reason I am needing electrical assistance is I purchased this car from Someone who never completed an engine swap and barely started it. The car is pretty much stripped down (I have the parts in boxes) its still a rolling chasis.

Anyway the wiring harness was cut up to eliminate the kjet sytem :eek7: So im going through it now and have a question: Pin 47 has 2 blue and black wires coming out of it. One is snipped which I assume went to the CSV, the other looks like it should go to the starter because it goes into tubing with the red and white starter wire. Can I remove this wire aswell?

Look in the resource section and you will find a color coded schematic for the whole car that should help you out.

There is another document there that identifies the wire that go through the "church window" shaped connector on the back right hand side of the engine bay.

I would share the links but Tapatalk makes that too difficult. Besides, you should become familiar with that section anyway as there is some great stuff there.

I did the harness changes to move the wires crossing the engine and a few other wires moved also. The CSV wiring on my car was not done like the schematic shows. It took awhile to figure out what they (DMC) did since the changes never made it into the schematic.
