So my toll window has been a bit off track for a couple years now but I was in zero mood to work on it since I still have memories of how delorean doors are made of razor blades. Well today the window came totally off the front track so I had to fix it. I did accomplish it, but not before slicing my thumb open. I hope to not touch the door again for a long time. There was so much blood...so much....sigh.

Hate to remind you of this, but there is so much iron in your blood that if you leave it on the door, it can actually start to rust the stainless...

Luckily my reflexes are fast. No blood on the door. Just my uniform (I hadn't changed) and the ground. Uniform cleaned out. The Earth will benefit from my blessing. Its a requirement of all DeLorean owners to make a blood sacrifice from time to time ya know.

Once upon a time someone had a post of repairing Deloreans and how many bandaids it took for each job. At the age of 70+ a man's skin get very thin, and every time I touch my car to do work I bleed someplace. I have learned the first rule on working on a Delorean is get the bandaids, the parts and the tools----BUT FIRST THE BANDAIDS.I think the doors were listed as a 4 bandage job, with good reason. Sorry the car bite you but everyone on this site has had this problem or soon will. I do not know how they made it---much better car people than me.

The doors are ridiculous. The whole internal design is crazy. The inside grab handles being one of the craziest. I also don't understand why all the access holes have to be so small. Would an extra 2 inches of room on each hole have hurt anything? The 6 screws/nuts to put the window back on track are incredibly hard to access. 2 more inches would have helped a lot.

I really wish the windows were like the prototype. Woulda been much easier and better wind flow.

Right? But you can't very well charge 25 grand in 1981 for a "luxury sports car" with windows that belong on a mid-60s VW bus or Fiat. :(

You are right. Besides the guys payin $25k for a car back then were not worried about working on their own windows anyway.

At least all the bolts are 10mm, it coulda been worse and had like three or four different sized bolts in the door lol.

I firmly believe that if you have not bled on your project then the car doesn't really belong to you or you to it. My Mustang ran like crap until I cut my hand on something and ended up with blood down the carb. My Nova has drawn more blood than I can remember and even embedded part of itself in my eye. That was a painful experience I do not want to go through again. My blood has burned off the Monte's exhaust manifold by now but there was a decent amount from a sharp shield. The D has only drawn blood once and surprisingly that was during the reconstruction after the engine and red paint were finished. I said "ah, so now we belong to each other...holy crap that is a deep cut."

I've sliced the absolute bejesus out of every finger while working on my D, but the most impressive was when for some silly reason I whipped my head past an exposed an open door - sliced my head which bled quite insanely and left a permanent scar. The dumb thing was I was finished and walking away, but turned back for reasons unknown and sliced my head in the process.

I purchased a new drivers side door. Picked it up to put it in my truck... Blood everywhere. I have swapped the entire internals from and to both doors and no cuts.

I did use some door trim guard stuff, works great.
