Just stating a couple of ironic facts here for today (not intended to be political in any way).
Oct. 1 - as seen on Google's home page today, Yosemite National Park's 123rd Anniversary
22281
Oct. 1 - Yosemite National Park closed today due to the Government Shutdown/Slimdown
Coincidence and a shame.

Yeah, yesterday I was spending the day with my girlfriend and her dog and we were going to go to a park. We chose Kennesaw Battlefield National Park since it's close by, but when we got there it was closed down. I thought it was because of road construction blocking the entrances to the park, but when we went to the other side of the park to go through that entrance it was also closed. I chalked it up to keeping people away from the construction, but then Julie said "is this because of that government shutdown?" and it clicked in my head and I said "yep!"
The smaller, local parks were still obviously open but KBNP is a national park so it was, of course, closed up. :(
