DAMNED close call! Grand Prix of Houston crash

I was ~20 feet away from the barrier when Dario Franchitti's car went crashing into it on the last lap. No notice, just WHAM! and pieces of carbon fiber body showered us. I made a video a few seconds after it happened. I'll post the actual accident in the next post.

Unbelievable speed and power. Reminded me of my Delorean....not.

Amazing. I was standing just to the side of the grandstand. Lucky as hell.

I've been close to the wall during a NASCAR crash and you are right...it's over before you even react. You can sometimes see it in slo-mo replays when the spectators/pit workers react well after the impact.

PS...find a place to affix that piece of carbon fiber to your DeLorean then you can say the car has an F1 heritage.
