I saw this car and met the owner. Not only is the car a POS, but the owner is completely nuts. I've met some strange Delorean owners in my day but this guy is in a league of his own. The so called "owner" did not have a title and knew just enough about Deloreans to be dangerous. There are many parts missing and I still offered $4,000. He thinks he'll get no less than $8,000 for the car. This is one of those Deloreans that will be sitting outside forever rotting away. He specifically did not want any pictures taken and there's definitely a reason why.
If anyone is interested, I can attempt to go back and get pictures but the last text I got from him after making the offer was "GFY". That was a new abbreviation for me but I did manage to figure it out. I was so thrown off by the condition of the car and how crazy the guy was that I forgot to get the Vin#. If you decide to go on your own, please note that Tennessee is a conceal carry state!

No, it was still stainless and I don't remember any ghetto fabulous additions. The guy kept telling me I don't need a title to register the car. Working in auto finance and having some common sense, I knew better. He wasn't interested in applying for a lost title either.......

Ah, that's right, the blue one was carbed. Or at least it had a blue bumper iirc.
Wonder what he is talking about? I feel I have over promoted this car :(

Now that is too funny! He's right though, at $8,700 it's definitely not for me. If anyone is interested in the car, I highly recommend you contact the TN DMV to verify the required documents to title the car.
Again, why doesn't the seller post detailed pictures of car????????????????

Delorianites... best new made up word of the week!
Reminds me of Gollum, instead of Silly Hobbitses, it's Silly Delorianites!

Here it is in all its glory! Enjoy.
Start:
Rust free and very straight frame, nary so much as a ding on any body panel, the doors work perfectly and the power "windows" go up and down. It is very straight and very solid.
The drive-line, steering and suspension is excellent as it should be for a car with only 27,000 miles and that very few miles ago had many parts freshened and upgraded. The engine has excellent compression and looks nearly new inside, the transmission shifts flawlessly and it handles like a Lotus Double Wishbone sports car should.
It's currently without a fuel system installed although most of it's original CIS is included. The interior needs recovered in something tasteful other than the stock boring gray or black. If you don't agree that a stainless silver car should have burgundy interior like a proper Ghibli or Khashin does, the mental profession concurs that you have serious issues. Nothing says uninspired and cheap like a bone stock Delorean's interior. That's why I have exotic hides and some tasteful 5 point seats, as well as a few other goodies to one day put this one over the top. Yes I also have the stock seats.
Speaking of Khamsin, you'll look long and hard before you find any useful CFD models of the DMC and anyone looking to optimize one of these will quickly realize all the best high pressure air flow areas are completely wasted by the original design and fixing that is the easiest way to add 50 horses to the bone stock and pathetic weezing lump that JDZ hurriedly installed into this car with all considerations given to getting it past the EPA and none to making these fine engines anything like actualized. Less than 100 horses to the real wheels stock, seriously and the 130 mph top end is a testament to it's aero work that still can be improved.
It has new tires on all four corners and they don't leak down one bit, so the stock wheels aren't going to bite you with peeling powder coat.
The car isn't titled although that is easy enough to do with it's clean VIN that hasn't been robbed by the people who make "new" deloreans. Of course, if you are not a walking around with a dung farm between your ears, like 02387, I'll show you the paperwork I have for the car and even have an officer come run the VIN in your presence. Don't be a typical Delorianite like 02387 because titling this car nothing but an easy thing. TN is not gestapo with regards to such situations. Can you imagine a cretin in the finance business claiming "GFY" was a new acronym for him? Hahahahahaha!
If you are a typical DMC-ite and douche nozzle clever enough to fool me on the phone that you are not, our visit will be short and you won't see any of the other parts that go with it, stored in two different buildings, and I surely won't consider including a nice EFI setup that could go with it that you also will only see in this picture. Hell, be a prig and I won't show you the DOHC heads taken from a very modern engine, modified and ready to stab onto a PRV.
This car is way too good to part and in a unique state so that only a fool would attempt putting it back boring stock and identical to all the rest of them. Oddly enough, well done Delorean customs are one of the few scarce cars where a crafty person can come out ahead of the purists, besides, there are so many things about these as stock originals that are garish and plain pathetic.
In many ways they too strongly resemble the worst of the early 80's UAW products and have you ever seen such a nearly incredible car's almost Ferrari-ish ass end completely destroyed by the cheap plastic louvers and Kmart-cheap Camaro looking plastic tail lights? YUKKKKK!
This car has most all of those horrible ass stock parts although you may be more interested in the custom treatment for it that JDZ was just too GM-ized and tired to do.
The BS non-functioning plastic front grill? VOMIT! What do you mean no high pressure air intakes behind that plastic lump of crap? I'm serious, I have one and it's insulting.
I do have some excellent induction parts that have been well done and thoroughly engineered, unlike the BS you get from the vendors where you spend (get raped) $10-25,000 dollars for boy racer and ineffective "high performance" stage 1-3 or whatever malarkey) and still don't end up with 200 horses at the rear wheels with raw gas being pumped out the tail pipe still. Bummer for the lemmings who did and do that and don't understand enough about engines enough to do for themselves.
I've even drawn up an actually engineered header system which will actually work, unlike the seriously wrong exhaust units available from the vendors for absurd money, even if they were correctly engineered for the PRV engine and actually worked anything approaching optimally or efficiently.
Has the PRV tuning situation gotten any better with this crowd of 'can't do for themselves' crowd? It's hard to tell but one of their worshipful "just pay me too much and be happy with the lame crap you get" tuners has gotten the bright idea that this engine's intake ports need to be hogged out large enough to stick your fist in and more than double the flow. My only expert assessment is these guys really have no clue what to do with an engine having a very long rod to stroke ratio and I can refer you to several historical classics of tuners, even OEM's, failing miserably applying conventional hot rod practices to long rod engines. Even Mercedes got bitten this way many years ago and even BMW has in recent times.
Although I've never met the DMC crowd's "Bill" or seen his dual plane manifold carb setup, at least he has the good sense to show understanding of at least having a clue about what the engine needs, so therefore, he must be ostracized from their group comprised largely of star trek type car geeks.
I understand a new tuning shop is opening in Florida with some experience in hipo engine swaps. Ok, that's cool and maybe even a good idea. However, the PRV can be awaken and without taking out a second mortgage on your shack and I've only seen almost efforts from people attempting optimizing one of these poly-hemi engines with a few easily corrected glaring errors, normally aspirated or otherwise.
These cars were in production for a very limited time and had they stayed in production, there would have been some Safety Recalls and several upgrades would have naturally evolved. That's why it doesn't bother me one bit to hang onto this one until the day comes I have the time to do right by it, because I can.
We'll see if we can get through negotiating on the basic car itself before getting into my bag of tricks. So, I have one more delorean than I need. If you're interesting in having one to righteously customize like most all of them truly deserve and beg to have, this one could be for you.
No crybabies, indignant purists, hopeful restoration artists or shetbags need reply.
If you are a hardcore gearhead and handy fabricator, perhaps we can do business and even like it.
If you want this one just for parts, I don't care, but, you'd be barking up the wrong tree if you think you're going to convince me how big a favor you're trying to do me by generously offering something crazy less than my asking price, of which the perfectly straight body panels and doors alone will fetch, so save it for somebody's demented widow or some otherwise wounded creature.
Save your anonymous remailer replies as well.
Oh, of course it came with several keys of Coke just like ALL DELOREANS do and it wasn't any joke. It's all gone so you go get your own. IF, for some idiotic reason you can't control your compulsion to ask if it has a "flux capacitor", get it right, it has a ''flux you capacitor' and I probably have some spare ones that you may mistakenly think is nothing more than a middle finger sawn off a sacrificial non-virgin at the last BBQ.
One caveat, these cars are almost a drag to drive because anywhere you go, they make people act like idiots who will follow you and put on lots of "Jackass" type driving maneuvers to get pictures. Once you park, you get mobbed by man, woman and child from all walks of life and people really act stupid thinking it's ok to put their hands or your car or even get in for a sit down if you're back is turned trying to stave off likely hep-infected gawkers making it a bit tedious to cull out the tasty hotties for careful consideration.
I've driven lots of sexy cars and the DMC is very unusual in this respect.
End.
