Wire disconnected?

Is this wire to the left of the hose number 11 supposed to be disconnected? I've been having a cold start issue and I noticed it was not connected to anything.

also I've seen these hoses below the cold start valve connected different ways, does it matter which one is connected at the top?

That looks like the reverse light switch connector. Do you reverse lights work?

My car had a larger ID hose nipple on one of those two hoses but I think stock both are the same ID so those two hoses can be interchanged if so.

I agree with Dave that the wire is for your reverse lights. You should have a wire running from your reverse switch on your transmission to connect it to.

Also, I just checked and my hoses are connected identically as yours are, with the line from oil fil cap going to the lower connecting point.

I agree with Dave that the wire is for your reverse lights. You should have a wire running from your reverse switch on your transmission to connect it to.

Is this wire required to be plugged in on an automatic? Mine is not plugged in either and my reverse lights are working properly to my knowledge.

The wiring diagram wasn't clear to me where it goes. Fuse #16 and the LGW (light green white) wire from it goes to this combination of things shown in area 'B4' of the schematic. I don't know if this is meant to be the transmission as it isn't labelled.

I dont believe the Automatics have a reverse light set up on the transmission itself like the Manuals do. Mine is disconnected and my reverse lights work just fine. I believe it only applies to manual transmission cars.

There is a reverse switch in the auto box, but it is wired to the large connection box that is located to the right if the resistor on the bulkhead. It is one of the conductors that goes from there over to the church-window connectors on the RHS.

Something to note here - early cars will actually have a "extra" red connector hanging loose in the bulkhead connector (the factory cut it off on later cars) since the both use the same main harness. If you plug that connector in on an automatic car (leaving the correct one disconnected) the car will start in gear and have no reverse lights.
