Hello everyone!

I was a member on the old forum but just re-registered on here. Glad to see the community is still buzzing.

Years ago i tried to find a local delorean to sit in and see how i'd fit but i didnt want to waste anyone's time as i wasnt in a position to buy... at 6'6" with a 36" inseam and a size 16 shoe... im very curious as to how feasable this car would be for me... No daily driver dreams here... but if im gonna have it in the garage, i'd have to be able to jump in and our of it and take it in extended cruises without too much discomfort.

Whats the verdict? Any other tall guys around here?

Im not opposed to modifying a car that i would own... mostly any "sporty" car i've owned has benefited from aftermarket seats being installed.

PS: Im looking for a 5 speed car.

John Delorean was 6'4" and fit in the Delorean just fine. The seat reclines back so you are almost lying down so I really think headroom won't be a problem.

Your biggest problem is going to be your size 16 boats, since the pedals are set up for agressive driving and are VERY close together.

If you are in Colorado I'd be happy to let you have a go at my car.

i wouldnt say the pedals are that bad, you may half to drive with socks on.

im 6' 4'' and reclined i still have over an inch above my head

Use the tips of your shoes to work the pedals. I drive mine with size 11 work boots all the time.

At DCS'04, Jim Prentice admitted that he only spent an hour designing the pedal cluster. It is far from a studied and perfected design, no matter your shoe size.

Another 6'6" DeLorean owner here. I sat in one 9 years before I bought mine and I'll be honest: I remember fitting in it a lot easier than I do now. I'm around 40 lbs heavier now than I was then, but the issue isn't with my width, since I'm only a 34" waist, but it's definitely with the length, specifically my legs.

Sometimes I forget the layout of the car and I go to look behind me when reversing and hit my head on the center section of the roof since it hangs lower. I'm sure I'm not the only one that this happens to.

Mine is also a 5-speed, and those pedals are definitely close together and take some getting used to. I have driven small 5-speed cars before, such as on old Toyota Tercel, and the DeLorean is definitely harder to drive. So make sure you're familiar with where your big feet are pressing and you'll be fine. Also be prepared for a lot of stupid comments from people asking you how you fit in it. Just another common misconception about the car. Good luck.

If the pedals are the problem you might have an easier time of it with the automatic, no clutch pedal to get in the way. You could also remove the dead pedal for more room.

His comment: I hate to push brake and clutch at the same time if I want to shift gears.
