Not sure if any one has seen or mentioned this before, however I have recently been sent a copy of the above magazine, however as it is mainly an American mag I thought I would post the details hear as well. Any way there is a reasonable article on the DMC-12, Bricklin SV1 and M.Benz 300SL:

Bummer, thought I'd be the first to post about this :) I nearly jumped for joy when I got my mail today.

Either way, here's a photo of the cover. Great pics. The article has some very good info about our car, and it's an overall VERY positive exposure!!

I could swear I've seen that Michegan OUTATME plate here on the forum before, but there are so many variations on that same theme I could be mistaken :)

Is that your standard Hagerty mag or is it an extra subscription?

Just the normal one that came with the insurance. Every quarter I skim it hoping for a mention of a DeLorean. Outside chance, I always thought... But how cool would it be to find one?

Never imagined a full page front cover photo!!

Cool. I'll look forward to mine.

The author, Ezra Dyer, is an occasional contributing writer to the Automobiles section of the New York Times.

He did a very nice job on this article comparing 3 very unique cars to each other and their contemporaries. Along with a shout-out in a sidebar to the Mercedes SLS AMG GT.

He wrote about driving the DeLorean, comparing it favorably to the Esprit of that time.

Owner Gene Kopczyk did us all proud, too! Nice job.

Bonus Feature found further back in the same quarterly issue:

23026

Mercedes 300SL, Bricklin SV-1 and DeLorean DMC-12 valuation info and trends shown side by side.

The current math:

1.0 DMC-12 = 1.5 SV-1's
1.0 300SL = 30 DMC-12's

That section is interesting. "Most were automatics in stainless with gray leather, though five-speeds appeared later in production"

That's exactly the opposite of what I thought was true. I thought the majority were black 5 speeds with grey autos being from later on. Am I wrong?

Strange I got a copy before you guys! I have never seen the mag before and it was only sent to me as Hegerty is a specialist classic car insurer in the UK (Not sure if it's the same in the US) who we, as an owners club have a good discount scheme set up with them. The link above to our forum will give you a downloadable pdf.

A buddy at my work brought in his copy and gave it to me this past Monday. I was thrilled to say the least. A very nice presentation. Notice how the Delorean is the front car in the cover photo even though the high dollar jewel is behind it. I'm sure the colors of the cars had something to do with. It's a lot easier to see the red in the back ground than the silver stainless. It also breaks up the shot.

My favorite automotive author, regular in Automobile magazine.

Yes, probably the largest one here.

I recall something from an early VIN list that showed

Grey Autos - 12%
Black Autos - 19%
Black manuals - 29%
Grey Manuals - 40%

Yeah the article is incorrect. Perhaps they meant grey manual?

Yeah, I switched over to Hagerty a few years ago and saw that when I checked my mail the other day.

Out of the three, the DeLorean is, of course, the best (hence why it's front and center!). I wouldn't mind having the Merc, I suppose (won't say the same about a Bricklin).

Must be nice to have "American" Hagerty insurance....With the Canadian Hagerty, all you get is ONE magazine per year...the "Canadian" issue

John, do you have the "Hagerty Plus" option on your policy? It is an extra $40 and provides some extra towing coverage or something to that effect. It also indicates it includes the "Hagerty Magazine." This might be the difference in getting one magazine per year and getting 12.

If it makes you feel any better we don't get any in the UK!
With the exception of having this one posted to me!

Wasn't even given the option when they switched over from "Silver Wheel".
Thanks for the info...I will look into it

My insurance got messy when I was "almost moved" to Alberta last summer. They switched brokers, but ultimately the insurance was the same (Hagerty, Elite). I didn't argue in the first year as I was just happy to have the car insured and able to be driven. Once I got the renewal, I saw that I had been enrolled in this Hagerty Plus piece. I declined this $40 extra in the second year, mostly because my CAA towing coverage made the Hagerty part redundant. No more magazines though as a result.

I was surprised though to see that they no longer require an appraisal. I'm not sure you can just pick a number out of thin air, but they don't require you to get an "official" one for $135 from someone qualified. Suits me fine as when I got my appraisal initially the guy asked me what I paid for it and what I had put into it and what I wanted it to be appraised at. He didn't even go look at the car until I urged him to. Not very official in my books. Likely why they don't require them anymore. It still comes with the 19A agreed upon value stipulation, just minus the WAG appraisal number system.

I also have CAA for the towing....the extra $40 for the magazine doesn't seem worth it

I also didn't required an appraisal for the 928 I bought in March. They asked me what I wanted it insured for. I will be getting an appraisal in the spring....it would be much easier to make a claim in the event of an accident with an appraisal. I could see it would be tough to get full value without one. I don't trust insurance companies!

I'm still not sure whether I am supposed to get this mag or not. So I called them up and asked for a copy and they were very nice about it and promised to send one out immediately. (The gent I was talking to had said he had been reading that very issue that morning, and seeing the car on my policy, he knew why I wanted it) True to their word, I got a magazine a couple of days later. Unfortunately it was the previous issue (Fall 2013). Called them up again and repeated the process, and yesterday the Winter 2013 issue landed in my mailbox. Excellent!

Thanks very much to all the nice folks at Hagerty, if any of them are reading this.

So did you clarify if you get the magazine when you insure a vehicle through them? I'm considering changing providers and while this is relatively insignificant, it would be a nice additional perk.

In all honesty, when I was talking to them, I was convinced that mine was simply lost in the mail.

However I have done a little digging this morning and found that the magazine only comes with the optional "Hagerty Plus" program, an AAA-type program which starts at $30 p.a. (for 10 miles of towing of your classic) plus the mag, plus a few other things. I had the program for several years, but I think I dropped it as it seemed to just duplicate what I had with AAA and the AAA coverage is for both my DDs and the D.

Props to Hagerty for not pointing this out and refusing to send me the mag. Maybe I'll sign up for it again.

Spend the $150, get the magazine subscription *AND* the 100 miles towing package. They'll tow your car up to 100 miles, and they'll do this for you every day. There is no limit. It also extends to every other car you own. MUCH better than AAA as it also comes with roadside assistance. Check the Hagerty site for details.

They (Haggerty) quoted me $225-250 if I recall recently. How'd you get them to $150? Maybe its a geographic thing... I do live in Dallas county where nobody knows how to drive... :gun:

The $150 (actually $125) is the add-on for Hagerty Plus High Octane Plan (on top of your insurance premium).

There are three levels ($30/50/125). The lower two are just for your classic car. The top one gives:

Hagerty Plus covers the first 125 miles of guaranteed flatbed towing OR the first $100 of other roadside services like fuel delivery, battery jumps and lockouts. This plan covers an unlimited number of service requests per year for all of your household vehicles – not just your classics – and trailers towing your classic vehicles.

as well as

Benefits of membership include:

HVA eNewsletter – monthly newsletter offering historical information, updates on legislative advocacy and entertaining articles
Historic vehicle advocacy information and resources — access to online tools for historic vehicle news and advice
Hagerty Classic Cars magazine — the community’s most widely read publication
Discount program — savings on a variety of historic vehicle products and services
““Ask Hagerty”" — answers to specific car questions
Collectors Foundation — supporting youth involvement in the community

Bob is saying that this $125 plan would replace your AAA plan, something that I am considering.
