Sale update:

First off thank you to all for your massive support of DPI. While I have always been happy with our product sales this is above and beyond what we expected. When we broke triple digits in the first day I was blown away. All orders placed up to 5:30 est have shipped at this time as well. We decided to extend the date of the sale to more than just Friday for a few reasons and it seems to be for the best.

Remember it is never a bad idea to educate your significant other on your Delorean tastes and needs. A quick conversation explaining catted vs. test pipes on a SPEC I only takes a few minutes. To aid with this we will be supplying a PDF post on our site with a basic break down on the company header along with common state emissions laws in the United States.
Out of our initial 25 systems set aside for the sale 18 are sold. With four of you receiving SPEC I systems as Christmas presents from your wives! Since the SW box is a little tacky under the tree (or however you may celebrate) we provide all gift SPEC I systems for the holiday season with a hand guide on how to properly display beneath the tree.

As stated before this sale is not based on quantity. It is duration sale with all orders placed honored at the sale price. When we hit the point of out of stock on popular items we will advise on the lead time for delivery.

Did someone mention catted vs test pipes?

Here is stock vs catted spec 2 vs test pipes on a spec 2. This was filmed with a professional camera/microphone. As the owner of the two spec 2 cars, I can say this is exactly what they sound like. Just be sure you have decent speakers :)

Considering the engine with the catted exhaust has just over 3,000 miles on it, and the other car had the cams and exhaust during a frame replacement and mechanical restoration less than 300 miles ago, nothing is wrong with either car. The lope at idle is normal with any performance cam. If your speakers don't have any bass response, you're missing out. I fail to see what you think might be "wrong"...

That one sounded fine. The others just not right.

Also, you are aware of the EPA laws regarding modifications to hahahhahahha. ;-)

It is why we do not post lots of videos as most people have built in or sub par speakers.

Thankfully the spec I package sale volume speaks for itself. We will hit 400 systems sold/installed by the end of the year. That is a major portion of active owners. Not to mention the number of sub par brand x systems replaced with the spec package. It says a lot when even the competition has been quoted stating how great it is manufactured and how it sounds.

Rest assured we are working hard at scrapping every stock system we can get our hands on along with every brand x. Dpi will not even sell a car without a spec version attached.

Plus when the brand x versions rot out and the owner is stuck without a warranty the choice is simple. Lifetime warranty from dpi and our industry leading manufacture that we worked tirelessly to develop the perfect system with.

Ok food time.

The one with test pipes has more of a "scooped" sound, whereas the cats have a little more mid range. You really need a sub to get the full sound of the test pipes, which is why I said to be sure you have decent speakers :) The main purpose of the video (especially since everyone does have different speakers, etc) is to give a comparison between the 3. Most of us have heard a stock system, so that's why its there as a base line to compare it to.

In MD, as long you have your car registered as Historic or Street Rod, you can do whatever you want to them as they are emissions exempt. Any car older than 1977 is also emissions exempt in MD. Every car I own is either registered as Historic or is pre-1977, so I can do whatever I want.

Not true, check your Ohio's law.

According to Ohio's law, there's no such thing as off road use only!

Protect yourself.

We do not sell the kit as "purpose use" in Ohio along with a few other states. IE you can't buy a complete spec I with the pipes in Ohio without converters. If you happen to get a hold of a set after the fact or change the pipes out it is not our problem. It is not breaking the rules to manufacture something to replace something only to install it.

Its not illegal to be in possession of or selling something that modifies a car. Technically anything that changes the original design of a car is illegal.
Who cares.......

In the eyes of the epa any changes to a car are considered to be tampering. So we better stop building TT kits, Nicholas better not drive his LS in Ohio and Eddie should stop the vw swap all header systems regardless of the source should be scrapped and stock systems installed.

and SW, corsa, flowmaster, magnaflow, kooks, rts designs, modern engineering and so on shouldn't be in business.

In the eyes of the law, is not the same to modify your own vehicle than modifying for others (for money).

Now, you can build a vehicle from scratch, as long as you also build your own frame, then it can be called off road or for racing purposes.

There are federal and state laws, sometimes federal laws allows you some modifications but state laws don't.

Accordingto Ohio law, a bussines can not offer for sale a device to eliminate a catalytic convert, let aside install it.

I'm just posting this in case you are not aware, you have very interesting products that no one else have, we need you to stay in business!

Wow. I just read that whole thing, and I am glad I live in MD. If your car is emissions exempt here, you can basically do what you want. I had a shop install true duals on my 79 Vette (they removed the converters, too) during a custom high performance engine build. I also basically daily drive it. No one has ever hassled me for driving it too much. It's illegal for a shop to remove cats here (like the shop did), but it will never need to be emissions tested.

There are a lot of companies selling performance emission less exhausts across state lines. Maybe it's just not enforced? Or maybe most states have emissions exemption for limited use vehicles like MD's historic/street rod plates? (I know PA antique vehicles are emissions exempt, and have heard of a C4 Vette having cat less straight pipe installed at a shop.)

Interesting read either way.
