Hi,

If I wanted to check the electrical connection of the sender switch, where is it located on the drivers side of the engine? Photos would be appreciated. I know it is not the same as the oil pressure sending unit by the oil filter.

Thanks,
Dean

It's just about where the sending unit is, but on the opposite side of the engine. Just above and behind the catalytic converter. One wire connected in the center. It will probably be hiding beneath a layer of oil and dirt.

The wire going to the sender is usually all burnt up, the insulation is crispy and broken. Two choices, replace the burnt section with a higher temperature rated insulation or slide a sleeve over the burnt wire to prevent it from grounding and lighting the light. Touching the wire to ground should light the low oil pressure light when the key is on. Do NOT try this trick with the wire going to the sending unit on the right side of the motor. You will damage the gauge. If the sender is leaking oil (very common) it can be disassembled and resealed or replaced. Don't try working on it if you just ran the motor, the exhaust can be HOT!
