Aftermarket exhaust options

With all the aftermarket exhaust options, DMC, DPI, all stainless systems from delorean.co.uk, etc... What exhaust do current owners have or are looking at as a upgrade in the near future?

I have a Spec 1 from DPI. Excellent build quality, very easy installation, and sounds fantastic.

I am going with a custom replacement of a Porsche 997 Turbo system.
Love the sound of those, have similar engines but way better performance.

I've been around all the available exhaust systems, heard them all and driven them all. In terms of sound, performance, and cosmetics, I vote DPI SPEC I with optional ceramic coatings. I hope to soon be upgrading engine internals in two of my cars, to further maximize the gains SPEC series can offer the DeLorean platform. I also own a car with Stage 2 ( purchased the car from the previous owner that way), and I prefer SPEC series in all categories.

I currently have the DMCH Stage I (Gen 1) modified with a Magnaflow (X)-pipe muffler). It was Jet hot coated 9 years ago. It's in Great shape given that it's 10 years old now. If I were to ever need to replace it, I might lean towards a Ceramic coated DPI system. I like the repackaged fitment of the manifolds and and cat pipe Elbow. They Don't seem to drop down as far as the DMCH system. It may also be possible to pull the starter without loosening the right header. That can't be done with a Stage I that I'm aware of unless the GEN II headers design was tweaked, which I'm not aware of.

Another satisfied DPI exhaust user here.
Tip- whether you want the cats or not, but it with the cats, then if you want the delete pipes, get them afterwards separately. The exhaust is the same price with cats or delete pipe, but to buy cats as an add-on later is more expensive than buying the delete pipes is.

Mine has a custom system that consists of removing the catalytic converter and the muffler and using a resonator in place of the cat and long resonated tips out the back. Sounds mean (best sounding DeLorean I've heard IMO) and has virtually no restriction. It's not quiet, but it's not obnoxious either - kind of like a mildish muscle car. Also makes for very easy access to the front of the engine (or back depending on how one looks at it).

Both my girlfriend's car and mine are both SPEC II cars, so we both have the SPEC I exhaust. However, hers has cats; mine has test pipes. The cats make it a little quieter and cut out some of the bass. The test pipes give it more of a scooped sound and give a deep, punchy low end at idle (keep in mind we have performance cams, so the idle may sound slightly different with stock cams). I love mine with the test pipes, but was happy with the cats, too. Either way, I love the SPEC I/II.

Do you know what color ceramic was used?

As an alternative to ceramic coating there are high temperature paints that hold up well. True ceramic coatings cannot take any physical abuse and some do not do well when they get wet when hot. The old Jaguars have porcelain exhaust manifolds and they aged well till around 20 years. The good news is they are very repairable and when properly redone they look spectacular but it is expensive. Look at Eastwood.com for exhaust paint (if that's the way you want to go).

Not sure with the color, it was done by DPI. When new, it was very shiny, almost polished looking. It bakes/cures to the color noted in the pic above. Much better than the burnt raw stainless IMO.

Jet Hot or Sliver ceramic coatings starts out almost Chrome-like then dulls out to that gray appearance. Un-coated stainless will turn dark brown from heat. Polished Stainless seems to hold up much better but does rainbow tone.
