Agreed. This looks like a very nice car for what I would consider a fairly low price. Not a ton of pictures though, so can't seem to figure out what doesn't add up. And at that price, something doesn't add up.

EDIT: Maybe because the ad indicates it comes with a manual and automatic transmission. Must be a SmartCar crossover or something...

Clean pics but didn't see anything of the frame. It has Michigan plates so at that price, I'd bet that might be the Achilles heel.

The DMC crowd had 2 opinions on any car for sale:

Sames Motors is in fact the older Ford dealership in Texas, don't know if this Red Barn dealer is in fact part of this family. I do business with Sames in Laredo, their websites always include "Sames" on their company/website names.

Yea, Michigan. The VIN chronology on the Texas club website shows it last being in Michigan as well.

lol, ya, no disagreeing with you there. Hard to say what the "just right" price is on many of these.

Kind of like when you're out driving around and the guy that drives faster than you is crazy and the guy that drives slower than you is an egg timer, lol.

Might just be me, but I can think of some better words to put in your company name than "barn." Especially if you're selling old cars. Barn finds make for neat stories, just not sure I'd go flocking to an ad that was telling me about how great this old barn find we restored is.

Sames Red Barn here in Austin is one of those places that sells worn out old used cars to people with bad credit. I used to go by that place pretty often because it's near where I always got my BMW serviced. Sames Red Barn having a DeLorean doesn't make much sense, and it's not on their main website. Odd. Maybe they sell on consignment and that is the reason vehicles are pictured on different places. One representative from Sames motors in Laredo will be at my office today, I will ask about this website just to know if this is a legit site.

The Red Barn Motors that Louie references has a (512) area code for both office and fax and seems to deal in generic family autos. The website has plenty of pics of the dealership etc and teh %512) code is right fro the area.

The RBM from the suspect ad has the same street address (shown on the website) but a (708) area code (Chicago IL). Sure, that's not an issue if they operate off a cell phone, but when the land-line fax is also (708) I become suspicious. Sure it could be a computer line, but most of these places have traditional faxes for various documents. They also have to maintain a "proper" land line, usually, to get their license. This "RBM" seems to just deal in high end cars (with pictures taken on peoples driveways, parking lots at night, deserts, forests, etc) Of course, they could be a "consignment" arm of the main business and just source cars from around the country, but their "about us" description implies otherwise. But it still seems odd.

Something is NOT right here.

Address says they're located in Austin, Texas, but the listed phone and fax numbers would place the physical location of the business somewhere in the greater Chicago metro area of Illinois.

Also notice how the phone number on the top of the page doesn't match the phone number listed under the 'company info' section? And then there's yet another phone number listed on the actual listing page for the DeLorean? Not to mention the web address of the site or the slightly amateurish feel of the site? I highly doubt that this site is in any way associated with Sames.

I tried calling ALL of the listed phone numbers (all three of them), and they all connect to a modem without a single ring. The fax number actually rings and you get a pre-recorded message from the phone company holding that number stating that it is not in service.

Also, the eBay sale of the car appears to have been successful at $32k, as the seller left positive feedback for the buyer on November 10. Who would buy at $32k to then flip at $15k less than a month later? Doesn't make much sense, does it?
