Hi all,
We are trying to fire up the motor in #701. Heads have been rebuilt, rings replaced. We are experiencing the following: the motor fires up but dies unless we open the disc on the air flow meter by 2 mm and hold it by hand, it keeps running. Also, after warmup it stalls when we press the accelerator pedal.
Can you recommend anything where we should start searching?
Thanks,
Gabor

Fuel mixture is set to low.

Fuel mixture is set to low.
Well, the fuel mixture is way off, probably too lean. It could be because of a big vacuum leak or it could be the adjustment is not set. If it ran the way it was (you did not touch the mixture screw) before you did all of the work, then you need to find the big air leak. Other wise you need to enrichen the mixture.

+1 on the air leak... I just had the exact same issue trying to start #6779 a couple of weeks ago after a few years idle. Had to do exactly what you did, and it wouldn't idle under 1000 RPM. Discovered a leak with the intake manifold...

It last ran about 15 years ago. :-) Almost all K-jetronic components were dead and had to be replaced or rebuilt.
Thank you for all the input so far, we will trace an air leak then if nothing shows up we'll try to tamper with the mixture adjustment.

If you are using a mixture unit that did not come off of a running PRV then the mixture could be way off. Verify no big air leaks and then enrichen the mixture.
