Stuck Intake Valve

I've got a stuck intake valve on cylinder 6. Is there a simple way to get it unstuck? We hate to have to tear things down to get into it.

Very unusual for a valve to get stuck. Even if you can get it "unstuck" the chances are high it will stick again till you figure out why it is sticking. Is the valve cover full of sludge? Has the car been serviced regularly with good oil? Is it high mileage? Has the motor been overheated? How do you know it is an intake on #6 cyl?

The valve cover and intake manifold is removed and we can see the #6 intake valve is stuck open. The valve is not obviously bent and there appears to be no excessive cam wear (ie, the oil has been changed) It has not been overheated. There is about 38,000 miles on the engine. No sludge.

You can try some kind of solvent (PB Blaster as an example) and try "bopping" the valve to get it loose. If it is carbon holding it in the valve guide you should be able to get it loose. Maybe it is being held open by something caught between the valve and the seat. You might be able to see it with an inspection light. I would not waste much time before pulling the head. This is rather unusual. Chances are high it will happen again. One slim possibility is the fuel injector for that cylinder is bad and a LOT of carbon built up on the stem. That would take a long time of the motor running really badly.
