Has anyone used these brakes on their Delorean? If so, do you need to change the stock calipers? Thanks

Interesting... I'd also be curious.

They have online chat so just ask them.

Did you actually call and try to order them? I'd bet they are not real. The description reads way too generic with "DeLorean DMC12" stuck in instead of "Ford" or "BMW". The photos are generic as the some of them appear to have 4-lugs and some have 5 (or six).

An old thread that had a few postings about vented front rotors here:

http://dmctalk.org/showthread.php?4611

Not the rotors you are asking about in particular...it veers into vented D rotors somewhere along about post #12.

If you find a new source/option let us know.

Yeah, that's what I'd figured, as well. It's probably all generic aftermarket parts.

You cannot use the stock calipers with vented rotors. You cannot use ordinary spacers to increase the width of the calipers because of the internal passage for the brake fluid. It all has to be custom built parts and it isn't worth it unless you can find stock stuff off of another car that can fit with little or no modification. What has been done is drilled rotors if you can live with the noise.

DMCEU use to sell a kit with ventilated rotors, two piston callipers, etc. Couple of thousand from memory, but doesn't seem to be listed anymore... the brake category under performance parts still shows the rotors in the preview.

I have been running vented rotors with the stock calipers for over 2 years. I made spacers that work with the stock calipers (I later found that there is a kit for our calipers that are used on a European car). The calipers are from a Toyota Supra with a custom designed adapter.

cool, where did you get those rotors ?

BTW - veeeeeeeeeeeery old news - known for at least 20 years.
The Ford Granada / Taunus / Capri has calipers in our size or with spacers
and larger brake pads.

I have been selling a bolt-on 4-pot conversion with enlarged vented rotors for several years.

As you might imagine, this kit is quite heavy to ship! For US-based, an all-in price in $US is $3999 if you use HiFX to make payment. Lead time is 6-8 weeks, PM me if interested...

What vented rotors are you using? Do you have a part number or remember where you got them? Thanks

I got them on Rock Auto. They are from an 84 celica (CENTRIC Part #12144017) . They need to be shortened by 1mm (radius, 2mm diameter). They were about $16 each. The key was having the "ears" so that my adapter can pick up the delorean hub through the space in the rotors.

I made 4 adapters (2 sets). I have been running one set for 2 years. I wanted to convert my second delorean too, but I "lent" the set to another owner (someone on this forum who shall remain nameless), promising to replace mine with new ones (that was 8 months ago). I believe he has been using them for several months.

Than you for the information on the rotors! Do you happen to have any pictures of the adapters that you made? Thanks again!

This is the adapter. The Celica rotor is mounted on the lower set of holes and the Delorean hub mounts on the upper (taller) set.
Although it seems simple, there are some complications. The wider rotor hits the dust shield, the caliper needs to be shimmed a couple of millimeters so that it is centered on the rotor, and the rotors are 2mm 2 large in diameter and have to be lathed down.
