The video proves that not everyone who owns a DeLorean is an authority on them or the history. I'm not saying that to be negative or disrespectful. Some people just like them and enjoy owning them and really don't care to spend their time devouring the history behind the car...maybe they have more important things to do like spend time with their family or work, or pursue other interests they deem more important. however, if I knew that I had a interview for a spot like this, I would have brushed up on my history a bit more.

That interview wasn't the painful part...it was the tired tired tired overplayed BTTF jokes. Can't anyone do a DeLorean report without trying to be a comedian? It's not funny, it's really sad. It's almost like some bland office coworker trying to be funny by saying overused jokes like "sounds like someone has a case of the Mondays" or "are you working hard or hardly working?"...things that weren't even close to humorous when they were new. Now they just make you sick to your stomach when someone says them...BTTF jokes are just like that.

Agreed. The part I actually liked about it was that the owner didn't seem that interested in talking about BTTF. But, the host, what a pain in the ass he was.

The best part about the BTTF jokes is that the person saying the joke truly believes they are the first one to say it. That they are that original and the expectation that you, the receiver of the joke, should be blow away by the clinic of comedy being displayed.

That's true of the interminable Flux Capacitor jokes. I have occasionally gotten a BTTF comment that made me laugh because it was pretty original, or showed a better-than-average knowledge of the movies. Like the counter guy at the auto parts store who said, "Don't say a word! I'm gonna read your thoughts!" as I walked in the door. Or the girl at the drive-thru who said, "Seeya last week!". Comments like that I can stand.

I guess my luck has been pretty good, because I've only encountered a couple of guys who "knew" all kinds of wrong information.

I agree 100%.

I remember many years ago I was at a tire shop getting my alignment done, and one of the guys asked me: "You want your wheels hoverbalanced while you're here?" Needless to say, he got a smile out of me and a thumbs up.

Overall, that interview wasn't too painful to me. I dunno, I guess going into my 11th year I have focused on the history of the car like I used to. If I do it too much and then go to shows or cruise-ins, man, I just burn out, or it becomes a very "me vs them" mentality.

Don't get me wrong - I'll call someone out who's saying "no brain idiot stuff". For the most part though, I just let things ride now. It's just easier on me that way.

I think the small doses idea helps too. Sometimes if you get a barage of it, you can get overwhelmed. A little at a time is usually manageable. Agreed on the car shows though, I don't plan on going to very many more in the coming season as I find the idiot density is way too high for me.
