View Full Version : Suspension Sway bar poly bushings

I just ordered a set of clamp and end bushings. Has anyone installed these? Any advice, or is it straight forward?

I've installed them. Pretty straight forward. Can be a little tricky to get the new bushings in, but that's a good thing! Goes to show how worn out the old ones are.

They were part of a pretty significant front suspension/brake upgrade for me.

More than anything else, it's peace of mind knowing I'm driving a safer car. I can't really compare it to bone stock because I never drove my car without everything changed out. I was the guy with L-shaped front springs (from a PO heating them to lower the car).

With Martin's front springs, the front end feels very nice and tight and those who have driven my car (at DMC NW) have said it has nice tight, light steering.

No; these are the purple/blue poly bushings by DMC-EU sold through DMC Midwest.

Main thing is DON'T grease the outside of the sway bar clamp bushings. You should silicone grease the inside of the sway bar bushings and the end bushings.

Do you mean synthetic grease or silicone grease?

Is it bad you you don't grease the inside of the sway bar bushings and the end bushings?

They will squeak. This is why OEMs don't use poly bushings often - the cost of the added stiffness is that they tend to be noisy.

I am installing sway bar bushings this afternoon. Is bearing grease good enough for them or should I make a trip to the store for silicone grease? Thanks.

I'd stick with silicone - it tends to be more waterproof, and mey be less likely to interact with the poly.
