DMC Replacement Switches

So while putting my center console back together I had to replace my Defroster switch and also ordered two blank switches (which are the defroster switch w/o a sticker), one I am using for the power antenna, other will be another accessory. One thing I noticed is the DMC switches don't sit properly, almost as if they are a millimeter too wide, anybody else have this issue? It's really bothering me because the OEM window switches sit perfect and the aftermarket ones I can't get flush with them.

Mine don't snap into place. One side (front) will, but the other won't. I have the console out right now and will look at modifying the little fingers on the switches that hold them in place. Generally speaking, these things are made to go through thinner sheet metal than the metal/vinyl laminate in the car.

I noticed one of mine had moulded raised lettering on the side that was preventing it from going through the slot, after I chiseled it off with a sharp blade it went in fine.

edit: it was the defrost switch that had the lettering, not the blanks!

I found the same thing. Used the same solution.

Me three. Once the raised letters were off it fit fine.

I mentioned a few posts up that my switches don't fit right and that I'd check it out since I have the center console out. Yeah. I'm a dummy. They're keyed and once you turn them around the right way they snap right in. I don't know how well they'll stay put once everything is put back in the car since the wires/connector was bottoming out, but I can only imagine it will be much better.

I just got down grinding mine down and they fit perfectly now. I only had to grind down the delorean.com part on the defrost switch. On the blank switches I had to also grind down the little bump out on the other side since the spots where the blanks were don't have a cut out for them. But after that they popped right in.

I had this problem too, although the fit is still not great, I couldn't even get them in before I noticed the keying. I originally thought it was a bad mould seam and filed one of them all the way down. Whoops! :blackeye:
