Switch replacement for the original rehostat

Hello guys,

maybe you can help me with a project I have in mind. I'm searching for a solution to upgrade my car with a ON/OFF manual switch.

First I tought about using the ON/OFF switches sold by DMC as a direct replacement for the dummy switches but I didn't like this solution.

Then I tought about using a rotary switch in place of the original rehostat..

I guess I would need a ON/OFF rotary switch with which you likely turn it left => device on ; return it to the original position => device stops

It would be nice to find a rotary switch with a ON/OFF/ON/OFF function or similar to get 2 different devices controlled by the same switch..

What do you think about it? I'm having some trouble finding the correct switch..

They make rotary switches that you can wire up any way you like with lots of positions and lots of conductors if you like. There's just not a lot of room in there.

Make sure you get one that can handle the amps. I melted my headlight switch because i shorted my rheostat. i Though 12 volts is 12 volts. But since my rheostat was going bad, there was .5 ohms to knock down the current. After that i had to rebuild my headlight switch and wire up a relay bypass.
