Not a very good ad. I've emailed him for more pictures. But he claims the car is in really good shape.

I don't think thats a real good selling point to anyone who has a half a brain. It amazes me how clueless some people could be and then be so obviously transparent about it.

I suspect the seller is referring to Houston refurbs -- his bass ackwards way of saying "the car is all original."

One possible "down side" already, I looked at Google Earth and the car is in the guys yard on the satellite photos. I wonder if it was always stored outside?

Looking at the photos it's not in "pristine" condition. It's in NJ but with tags for Hawaii? Odd, no?

The car was in HI until last year, according to the seller. I remember seeing it for sale then (as a HI) car is pretty unusual.

I did look at the car and took it for a drive. Also got some more photos. I think the original poster on this thread said he was going to pass on the car because of the questions on the title. I would be cautious too, because the car somehow got from HI to CA (where he bought it), to NJ and still had a HI title. Based on his story the car has changed hands 3 times with no title update.

Seller says he has had it in NJ for about a year. Because it is still not registered here, it has not seen much action in the past year. Looks like he just had some work done on it to get it running (new alternator, new battery, and new CPR).

Thats right, I did pass on this one. The way the seller acted with the hole deal, was why I made my final decision. The car was maybe worth the money. Thanks again, Malevy.

So you drove it, what were your impressions of it, what condition? I don't want it but in case someone does it would be nice to know. The title thing will keep me at a distance.

Like most 30 year old cars, it needed some work.. If someone is seriously interested in buying it, I can discuss details with them.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the title thing is only a problem if the HI owner has not signed the back of it.

If he has signed it, then do you not just take it go the DMV with your bill of sale and the bill of sale from the HI owner to the C.O. to establish continuity of ownership?

Now if the HI owner didn't sign it, then you could have a problem.

Each state is different. You potentially have up to 50 different titling procedures. North Carolina, for example, requires the seller's signature to be notarized, South Carolina and Virginia do not. Virginia allows initialed corrections to the title (such as mispelled names), North Carolina and South Carolina do not. South Carolina and Virginia issue titles at individual DMV locations, North Carolina titles are all mailed from Central Office. Etc.
