Hi all,
I have been searching for M7x40mm bolts for weeks now...I have searched every hardware store and specialty store around but no one has any and can't order any.

What I need is a quantity of 4 bolts, hex head, fully threaded, M7x40mm

If anyone has a store near them that sells these, and would be willing to pick up a few and mail them to me, I would be happy to cover the costs with paypal. PM me if you can help out.....thanks,
John

PS....no I will not pay using Western Union, and you will not be shipping them to Nigeria

I just called them -- they do ship to Canada.

Pacific Fasteners (http://www.pacificfasteners.com/) out here in Vancouver sell M7. And they're stainless steel!!

In fact, every nut and bolt they sell regardless of size is stainless steel.

If they do carry M7 stainless.....let us all know. We have all been looking for M7 stainless for years.

If it can help someone, I can send some stuff to you.
I'm living in Europe, and M7 stainless is very usual.
The shipping is arount 3$ for a small amount of screw / bolts, perhaps it could be interesting ?

Cheers,

Here's (http://www.pacificfasteners.com/Book.pdf) a copy of their pdf catalog. I looked through it and didn't see any M7. Someone else should double check me though.

If you don't mind 1/2" hex heads, you can turn down 5/16-24 bolts very easily (24 TPI is extremely close to 1mm thread pitch -- the die follows it effortlessly).

7x1mm stainless rod, threaded and unthreaded, is very common -- you can use it to make studs to hold things such as valve covers (stainless nuts for the studs are readily obtainable from McMaster).

Stainless 7x1mm allen head bolts are even readily available for various Vespa applications (I bought carbon ones instead because I don't trust stainless in aluminum on the back of my water pump).

Northeast Fasteners is where I bought a bunch of M7 bolts. They are grade 8.8 steel but very reasonable price.

I didn't see any either, but I've still bought M7 from them on several occasions.

I've always had good luck with metric specialties here in California - they have always had everything I could want...

You can also try Mr G's. The Delorean vendors can help you too, they all stock metric hardware for their service departments. Most large auto stores also have an assortment. You can always go to a junk yard and pull a few long ones. Easy to cut them shorter but difficult to make them longer!!!!!!

I found M7 stainless hardware from a place in the UK, www.polished-stainless.com (http://www.polished-stainless.com) . Ordering is done via email; I've placed two orders now and had no problems (the second order is on the way). You email them what you want, they email you back a quote, and you figure out payment. I used a one-time-use credit card number that I was able to make from my card company's site so that I could securely email them a credit card number, but you can call the UK if you prefer to do it that way.

Keep in mind that it's not cheap. The heads are polished, and look nice, although I didn't really need that -- I just wanted some M7 stainless hardware.

An example of the random assortment of M7s I recently ordered (mostly to make up for the M8s I inadvertently ordered for the valve covers -- my fault, not theirs):

M7 x 1.00, 20mm long, quantity 5 £4.50
M7 x 1.00, 25mm long, quantity 5 £5.00
M7 x 1.00, 30mm long, quantity 5 £6.00
M7 x 1.00, 35mm long, quantity 10 £13.00
M7 x 1.00, 40mm long, quantity 10 £15.00
