PIN = VIN ?

Not trying to uncover some big security breach or anything, but was curious how many of you have at least one of your PINs equal to your VIN? Bank cards, voicemail password, garage door opener keypad, cell phone lock screen, etc.

Changing it first and then answering the poll doesn't count, lol. I am guessing most of us think along the same lines...

I've used the last 4 digits of mine as part of a bigger password. I think I've since changed it.

Never used it for my bank accounts though. Seems like that would be too easy for someone to guess.

Ya, agreed on the banking stuff. When my "smartphone" had a full keyboard for the lockscreen password, it naturally was set to BOSCO. When the phone I have now is only digits, I had to think of something a little less Costanza'd, lol.

Never. All my pins have been random numbers.

2691 is part of my email address.

Never. I use random codes and don't worry about remembering them since I keep them in my ICEarchive card. Shameless plug, but how many of you have actually checked it out?

Hmm, I'd never thought of it. But my VIN is a 5 digit, whereas most pins are 4. And I've had all my pins/passwords/etc longer than I've had the car.

Ok, looks to be pretty unanimous. Can't know unless you ask, right? :)

Agreed on using the VIN in the email address itself more often. I do that myself too.

And in a strange twist of fate, I realized a couple years ago that the phone number I had in my first home after school was my future VIN. I had this place in about 1997 and only bought my car in 2007. The phone number was randomly assigned and I saw it on an old bill when I was cleaning some things out not long ago. Like Devon said, many of our PINs and passwords we have had long before we got our cars. I guess the phone company knew I was getting my DeLorean long before I did. Must have been a glitch in the Matrix or something :)

Well from the looks of that poll Jonathan, I'd say it is time to be looking for some new PIN.

VIN = part of email address
VIN = part of non-email usernames
VIN = part of license plate
VIN = part of personal cell phone number
VIN ≠ PIN
