How is the Willys Jeep controversial? I had a 1948 Willys-Overland CJ2A. The original WWII Jeeps were requested on behalf of the federal government for use in the war and bid out to several auto-makers. Willy-Overland got the contract and American Bantam got the contract for the utility trailers. Ford was brought in later to build the Willys Jeep when Willys couldn't keep up with demand during the peak of the war. The Fords are nearly identical and use all the same patented Willys parts. They are called the GPW version of the MB Jeep.

The CJ2A came out after the war and was marketed primarily to the agriculture sector.

I agree as well. This is a strange list. So yes some of these cars are just butt ugly and rarely are adored or revered (looking at you Aztek). Others are just odd choices. I have never heard anyone say, "gosh a Willys Jeep is just dang ugly." or "why did they build that?" If anything the Jeep created a whole segment of the automotive market and the Model T was one of, if not THE, single most important car ever built.

Half of the cars are either the most revered:

Jaguar E-Type/C-Type, Willys Jeep, Model T, Austin Mini

Or highest production models in history:

Model T, Chrysler Minivan, Austin Mini, Willys Jeep

The only ones that make much sense being on this list are:

Pontiac Aztek, Tucker Torpedo, Chrysler Airflow, Yugo, GMC Syclone, Chevy SSR, & Chevy Corvair

Even the controversial ones listed are all cult classics. I still don't get where the Cadillac fits into the equation, either. Strange list... almost seems to be compiled by someone who isn't even a car fan.

To be honest, I like the Syclone. Is it ugly? Its a pretty typical 80s truck squarebody, so I think it qualifies as a love/hate look. Having rode in one though, I can say it is impressive, especially given the time period it was released. All go and no show as it were.
