After breakfast with the wife yesterday, we spotted this transporter that was parked overnight behind another restaurant not too far from where we live (not uncommon to see DeLoreans on semis since DMCH isn't far away either). I was going to get the picture of the paperwork that was attached to the windshield and what was written on it to try and see where it was going (as well as a few other shots), but I missed the opportunity. I don't want to climb around on a semi, and the driver was apparently waking up given the creaking coming from the sleeper. Best not to tangle with him.
Having finally been up close on this car, I can see why it was written off. That was some severe damage, but it's a testament to the engineering involved. I would loved to have purchased this one if given the chance. A new crumple tube on the chassis along with some other work if possible, a fresh underbody and some new stainless, wheels, and a few other bits and it could be rebuilt. Though admittedly this would be more of a "Let me do this to see if I can" type of challenge that you'd never make the money back on. It would take thousands of dollars and at least a couple years in the garage. I really wished I had the cash on hand to get this one before it slipped away...
