Soldering SS

Hello y'all,

I am building a new radio controlled model boat.
It is a fairly big scame (1/10). I used to make railings from brass and after soldering them I spraypaint them silver.

But now I was thinking to solder a railing made from SS wire. (2 mm thick)
My question is if you can solder SS? I have read somewhere you can, but can you do this with a regular solder iron and tin?
Someone has experience in doing this?

Well.... My company has been doing it for 62 years... We use a 94/6 Solder, a Flux "Duzall" and a 200 Watt Iron....

It will not be a very strong bond and it will only work with tiny pieces.

I have a regular soldering iron, basically what most of us have, but I m pretty sure it is not 200W. So good idea but no more than that.
I wanted to use bike spokes to do this. Some stength is necessary. I'll give it a try anway, I got nothing to loose.

200 WATT Irons are not a lot of money... It may not have to be that hot for your application, as we solder SS sheet metal 90 degree corners... It is Pretty Dog On Strong... can't break with hands.. the key is the Tin and Silver solder, and the flux to give it bite. The Duzall is avaiable in small bottles... Google it. Best of luck
