Hi everyone,

I was checking out the bulb in one of my number plate light this afternoon and after removing it, i cant screw it back in :( im guessing there's a support that is suppose to screw into? Anyone got a pic of this part that has gone "walkabout" as it wont screw into nothing? Ive got the plate bracket jamming it in place before i can work out an alternative method in keeping it there :(

The license plate light unit is backed with a square metal plate on the inside of the rear facia.
It surrounds the wire to the bulb's socket.
This plate is not fixed to the facia, so when you take off the license plate light unit and remove the screws the backing plate drops into the facia.

You need to remove a tail/brake light unit, get in with a hand and move the plate up to its location.
Hold it there while replacing the license plate light units and turn in the first screw.
Do the same with the second screw.

One of the owners over here used some glue to stick the backing plate to the facia (forever?).
May be you feel to do so, thus avoiding having to open up the facia each time you take the light unit off.

I thought I had lost mine once, couldn't find it down below. I then realized that the wires for the lamp go through an opening in the center of the plate and the plate was simply hanging on the wire further up the harness.

Cool. Now that your plate is lit up at night you may have to slow down a little bit - the State Troopers can now easily tell which Delorean it was that whizzed past them going 88...

I was driving with a friend two years ago who commented that the car didn't really blend in if I caught a cops eye, not 5 seconds later another Delorean whizzed by us in the left lane. We were both floored.

Unfortunately when I screwed everythign back on, one of the lights stopped wroking. :( Checked to see if it was all plugged in, but just using the connectors on the bulb, she wont light up. I'm going to get my Autoelect friend to take a lookie. I think that the connector might be dodgy.

Deloreans here are a very rare sight, haven't been pulled over for the normal license inspection yet. Any excuse to check out the car, so I am expecting it!

Aw geez - sorry - I didn't realize you were in Australia, that's the problem I'll bet. You have to switch the left and right bulb assemblies because you drive on the other side of the road, man!

Sounds Irish to me that statement!

ummmm, I mean... Swap the terminals on the battery connections?

ummmm, I mean... Swap the terminals on the battery connections?

Did that and used another bulb too. I have a feeling the end of the connector is not conducting, it is, 30 years old. I'll get some new connectors and try again.

I hope you never do that.
