I'm wondering how a scam like this would work, I'm half-tempted to respond to the ad out of curiosity if there wasn't the possibility of any type of breech via my email address. Does anyone here know if a response email is aliased by Craigslist?

Craigslist only masks the sellers address (optional when you create the post). The inquiries are not masked and once the seller replies then you know his/her address. At least that's been my experience with CL.

Just create a yahoo address or something like that if you're concerned with the scam artist seeing your address.

My guess is you'll get the "I'm out of the country and this vehicle is in a shipping container ready to be shipped world-wide, etc. etc." Maybe even something about the Nigerian prince.
