Well, my brother and I worked yesterday to give 747 a couple of slightly more modern features. We installed the Leather Binnacle from DMC CA (the original was flawless, just preferred the leather rook). Then we swapped the door lights for Blue LEDs with custom Blue Lenses. lastly, we installed a set of Projector Headlights with Halos. All of these upgrades were remarkably simple to install and look wonderful. The Blue Door Lights make it look like a spaceship, pretty cool!!!

Pics or it didn't happen.. :)
I'm interested to see the projector headlights with the halos. What brand and did you have to do any minor mods to install them?

I like the blue too. But I wanted to keep the red and amber door lights. So I only went with blue on the forward door lenses, left and right. That way, I have red in the back (for safety), amber on the sides (for warning), and blue in the fronts.
To me, that configuration looks cooler than all six door lights being blue.

OK, it happened so I'll post pics! The headlights were darn near plug n' play. We spliced the Halo wires into the turn signals (so that they would come on with the parking lights and/or headlights). I took about 40-60 minutes to remove the originals and install all four lights, very simple!! The Blue Door Lights look great and the leather binnacle really gives the car a more modern and much lore luxurious looks. We also did Red Gauge Needles too for a sportier appearance.

I think I like the stitched look of the binnacle versus original...looks nice. Are they still available from DMC? On a website?

We bought it in-person from DMC California. This was the only black one left. They still had Grey though. I think the leather looks so much more upscale, a little more in-line with modern day exotics. I absolutely love it! My brother.......................not so much. After I got it installed, he made this kind of a face :confused2:
The binnacle with leather looks really nice :)
Do you have a picture of your new front lights switch on?
Did you painted your needle red on your dashboard?

I think so too.
How much do they charge for those? It sounds like they're sold 'off the shelf" so it's not yours recovered, right?

I don't have any pics of the headlights at night, just finished installing them. I'll take some this evening and post them here. Yes, the leather binnacles are an off the shelf item and are not your existing one re-covered. It was $375 plus a $100 core charge. Yes, we just painted the needles red. A little trick I learned years ago in the Miata Club. Nail Polish works beautifully!!
You're right, needles in red is amazing, you must be very patient to do it so nicely

I love "mild moded" DeLoreans like yours. Just enough to stand out in a group of already unique brothers, but restrained enough to not cross the line of over the top.

Very nice and personally I like the all blue lights- makes it feel very airplane like. Of course now I have to get a leather binnacle though I don't have my DeLorean yet...

Thanks everyone. We really like the little touches and modernizations. My brother has done an amazing job with most of the modifications and designs on the car. He's quite smart when it comes to design, execution and finishing. Here is a photo of it at night with the Halos on. I love it!!!!!

I have had DMCCA's black leather binnacle in my car for 10 years now. It still looks brand new and I also think it looks upscale. I know the purists don't approve, but...........as they say..........it's my car. And, it will not crack, fade into brown spots nor peel........what more could you want?

The Halo Bulbs are actually blue but yet they put out a very pure while glow. We already mentioned possibly swapping them out for something a bit more blue. I got them from eBay actually.......$140 if I remember correctly.

I have the blue lights too, for like 5 years already.
Blue lens and blue LED's.
I also want to see more pics of the red gauge neadles. Nailpolish dries up quickly, some bright red paint maybe more favorable?
Your Delorean looks very nice!

So far, we're loving the Blue Door Lights Blue LEDs and Blue Lenses). The glow at night is stunning, it goes about five feet out from the car.................so cool!!!

I read about the nail polish trick in a Miata Club publication and tried it on one of my Miatas years ago.It still holds up and looks great all these years later.
Your Delorean looks very nice!
Thanks Jan! Its actually my brother's. We've each owned two DeLoreans and have been huge enthusiasts for ages. I sold my DeLoreans years ago and recently I decided to buy another one. My brother told me that'd be dumb as there was already one around. So, now we basically share it (well, we share all of our car collections). He's been cool enough to let me run wild with it. Now we're looking to get a Ferrari......................I suppose I'll have to let him run wild with that one! LOL

Hi guys,
Sorry I haven't replied any sooner. I haven't been on here hardly at all lately. I have other specialty cars that have been drawing me away recently. Anyway, here we go!
yeah.... what he said.
I've been painting gauge needles for years and I have found what works best (for me) is to take your time, select a paint or nail polish that you like and apply with a toothpick! Nailpolish looks ratty after time on people but in cars, it looks perfect for a very, very, very long time.
So is that just a bulb replacement or are we talking about new lights, wiring, ballasts and the whole deal?
We replaced the entire headlamp assemblies with new units as we wanted the angel eye feature. You could certainly just add some tinted bulbs to OEM headlights if that is the only feature you wanted. The entire swap and wiring of the angel eyes was very simple and straightforward. I think the entire thing maybe took us an hour.
Thank you all for the compliments and questions. We are really enjoying how these little touches look!! There is always more being added, it just never ends! We just added the hub adaptor and Momo Evolution Wheel (with DMC center emblem)...................damn, it looks awesome! Also just added was an eBrake Leather Shift Boot and Stainless Ring around the eBrake Release Button. This is a bit subtly but cool all the same.

I also bought 2 blue lenses from the Arizona club a while back, and I really like them. And yes, you really need the blue LEDs, cause white washes out really bad.
I purposely bought only two, because I thought 6 blue would be way too strong. I like the 2 red, 2 yellow and 2 blue arrangement. The color contrast of Red/Yellow/Blue looks way better than all blue, I think. REALLY looks great at night at a street-meet with the doors up. Draws more attention with the different colored lights way up in the air, among a sea of other classic cars below.
Personally, I wish everyone would go 2 blue in front, and keep the others 2 yellow and 2 red, but that's just me. Kind of strange to hear myself say that since I have been mostly a purest about the car. I guess there just are a few things that are better now, like LEDs.
