Today for the first time in about 3 months i took my car out for a run. This has been a tough winter for the deep south, I know to you guys up north this is silly but for Birmingham,Al to have 4 inches of snow twice in the same winter just does not happen. We are not equipped with snow removal equipment so we wait for it to melt. I had a spare set of ss grills for the motor cover and one of my fellow Delorean owner in Alabama wanted them. We set up a meeting place and he drove his D and I drove mine. We drove each other cars and compared stories . While sitting in the parking lot talking -----the event of having 2 Delorean in the same place turned into a mini car show, lots of pictures taken and lots of public interest. Most of them had never seen a Delorean and for dang sure none of the had ever seen 2 in the same spot. Fun was had by all, to any other Delorean owners in Al, Tenn, Ga or Miss we could all get together one week end and have one heck of a deep south show. The public is interested. Thanks to refugeefromcalif for the great two man show we had.

Andy - I lived in SoCal for the first 6 years of DeLoren ownership (1982-1988) and then moved to the mountains of CO. I know what you are experiencing......."loss of community". I got to the point where I would drive 500 or 600 miles to attend a car show if I knew there were going to be other DeLoreans there. Well, now I am in NC and starting all over. If you ever get a bunch of folks together for a day of "DeLorean Love/Hate" exchanges, please let me know. Birmingham is only 335 miles from me...just far enough to get the oils circulating in both the car and me. Can't always promise to make it, but would love the opportunity.

Andy,

Have you checked out SEDOC (South East Delorean Owners Club):

They aren't super active (I hate to say), but we get together from time to time. Only a 2 hours drive from Birmingham :) I'm always down with getting together with other D owners.

I didn't get to talk to/ask Andy as many questions as I had but, I had a Great time! What started out as simple meeting, turned into a small public event.

I'm ready for another meet, (if one can be arranged) with other D owners somewhere that's convenient for us all. (I'm not afraid of putting miles on my car)...

Sounds like fun. Unfortunately I'm almost 5 hours away and I don't trust Red to make a trip that long yet.

Depending on the turnout, I'd drive 5 hours for a meeting with other D owners.
(I'd have to make it a weekend trip).

Hey Guys, My car is usually in the Birmingham area but right now its with me in Tuscaloosa because my daily driver is suffering from a water pump related issue. There actually used to be three deloreans in my neighborhood several years ago. btw I think I saw you the other day George. Were you on SKyland Blvd around 1pm Saturday?

Nope, I was in a blue mazda at the time.
Oh everyone in Tuscaloosa would go crazy! I've driven mine down the strip a few times.
I'm sure we'd get several Roll Tides.

Based on the POV of the pic, you were going too turn onto Greensboro Ave heading towards downtown.

Funny you mention the strip. I drove it a bit later Saturday, first time in the D. (I was All over T-Town and Northport Saturday).
It Did get noticed....
