I have weathertech mats in our shop/driver vehicles, would not go without them on a car that gets driven here in the winter. It's great in the back of the vans we use for hauling parts (mostly tires and wheels). They are truly the best floor mats I've ever seen in terms of catching the crap and either retaining it or aiming it out the door. They are not particularly luxurious, they are a molded piece of somewhat flexible plastic that fits the floor of the car exactly. They would look out of place in the summer in a "nice" car.
I suspect they need a volume in the hundreds, if not thousands, of a particular form to be interested in making the tooling. Since most DeLoreans are at this point not winter cars, the market would be pretty small.
I found it interesting that, for example, they don't make an extended rear mat for my daughter's Chrysler minivan and its one of the most common vehicles in the country.

Really? Where in IL do you live? Between you and DMC-Midwest in the northwest Chicago suburbs, I figure there'd be no shortage of local DMC-12s to scan the floor on. Hope they take you up on your offer! :)
As Dave S. mentioned, the WeatherTech mats are a "must" for Winter-use vehicles, especially this Winter (5 feet of snow so far).
I drive past the Bolingbrook, IL HQ all the time and I have offered to bring the D Rex by the HQ, if they wanted to check it out, for Winter mats.
I have also offered to bring an underbody to the HQ, with carpeting in it, if they want to do measurements. Time to check with them again.

Definitely!! I would love some proper form-fitting rubber mats. I love my DMCH carpet reproductions but always just feel better with rubber mats under my feet. Especially with all the clutch pedal action, I don't want to wear a hole in my floor :)

I've thought the same thing! Already bummed that my DMCH mats are showing as much wear as they are, there is just too much foot traffic in that area.

Maybe we need to do one of those online petitions and present them with a thousand+ potential customers? (If we can get that many?)

Can we split this convo off to a floor mat thread?

A LOT of DeLorean owners live here in California...where we really don't need a mat like that. And according to what Dave said "...terms of catching the crap and either retaining it or aiming it out the door". We dont have the luxury in a DeLorean of having all the crud aimed out the door, too much of a ledge. So you can only bank of having it all caught in the Mat, when really, why would you want that in your expensive sports car? Just my 2 cents....

Dave, you can more than likely get a Hexomat for the minivan's cargo deck.
I have Hexomats in my DeLorean (floor mats only) and really like them. I never have to vacuum sand out of my carpets, and they're great at trapping spills, too.

I had a van like Dave, and while you could get a mat for the very back part, you couldn't get one for when one or more of the seats folded flat. Too many options and too much plastic to store when the seats were up.
