Interior is rough and the car doesn't run. After I get her home I'll see what I'm looking at to restore her. You guys know me and my finds. If she's too much to restore then I'll sell the front left fender to get back what I have into her.

Just got home. I will get some pics up shortly.
So the black interior is trashed. Right front fender has a dent but the rest of the panels are great. Gas flap hood, rims are in pretty good shape and the engine is surprisingly clean. Car has a little over 25k on the odometer. Frame has no rust from what I could see. Car had been lowered at some point. It was last registered in 01. Looking at it I believe that the original owner got hit or hit something then parked it. Motor turns by hand so that's a good sign. Fluids were drained. The guy I bought it from got ripped off hard by the original owner. He paid 15k for it. He has no real knowledge about Deloreans and thought it would be a quick fix.

if engine and frame are that good, this looks like a nice restoration project. The interiour is not that hard to restore, everything is available (I exclude the binacle on that)

That's awesome you have 2 different 700 series cars! That interior is something else... I have seen many a cracked binnacle, but I can't say I've ever seen where the instrument surround insert was cracked, too. That interior has seen a crazy amount of sun/heat. Odd how the front fascia seems to be ok, though. Anyway- kudos for rescuing & hopefully reviving this one! :thumbup2:

It's in worse shape than I thought.
It was stored in a field and the frame I would say is not that great. Looks like he took it off some sweet jumps.
There's cracking and rusting going on with it. Only good thing is that the panels are decent.

the Rally D and 10309 I got by being in the right place at the right time. 10309 a lady came up to me at a show and said her sister was og owner but was going blind so hadn't driven it in years. She just wanted out of her driveway because she hated seeing it and not being able to drive it. The Rally one my Dad was driving the back roads and saw it so I went up there and put an offer on it.
712 was on CL for 12k I talked to the guy on the phone and he just wanted to take a small loss. I pretty much told him he was going to take a big loss on it. He knew I was right and just wanted it out of his garage.
I bought Rally for 2k, 10309 for I believe $4500-$5000 don't remember and 712 for 4k
I think what helps is that I'll drive 747 when I make an offer. They see how nice 747 is and I tell them I bought her for 15k. It makes them realize they are not sitting on a gold mine.

So I really wanted to finally do a motor swap with this car. I've always thought that the Subie sti motor would be awesome. But reading the link that was posted and seeing it was a company car (like 747) I don't think I will go that route. The first thing im going to do is get her running. No fluids in the car so I'll just check the hoses, tune her up and see what happens.

Back in the day, the previous owner had mentioned the car ran in at least one off-road Rally in Mexico.

Yes, it has a motor swap but with it being out in the open without a cover for how many years (in a area of San Diego that snows)I would guess it needs a complete overhaul or a cheaper replacement. He did tell me that he used to race it down in Mex.

I remember that thread too... It's sad to hear the PO gave up and decided to sell. I thought he had a pretty positive and realistic attitude going into it (25-30k budget, 2 year timeline) I wonder what happened that made him change his mind?

On the positive side it's nice to know that the car is back on the path to getting restored.

The Glendale one is in pretty good shape inside considering it's been sitting outdoors for almost 13 years. Only the binnacle and dash are cracked. Engine moves, frame looks good, and the owner (who I think is the original owner) had Danny do all the work before it ended up going into storage and then out in a parking lot at my old work.
Once I get it I'll have you come over to take a look.

These cubbies look like they could hold a wallet, can of soda. they are about that size. I tried posting pics but for some reason it sits there and loads. The pics aren't big files so I'm not sure what going on.

So most of the interior pieces are pretty brittle and just fell apart when I took them out. I priced the trim pieces that are needed and it comes in around $450 My sister does custom furniture so all I need to do is buy the rolls of leather or vinyl and she will do it for me.
I would like to get some feedback on the interior color. I was thinking of going 2 tone tan and black or all tan.
What do you guys think?

That makes about as much sense as a screen door on a battleship.
I will probably go with a nice pleather to keep the cost down. There is some out there that look like the real thing. It's just something I'm going to have to price.
With my sister doing the wrap work I think I can do the whole interior for around $1000 (including the trim pieces I need)
After taking a look in the gas tank there is gas in there with a new fuel pump. Not sure how old the gas is but I think the PO probably tried to start her with out cleaning the lines.
I'm going to try and get the frame off this week and try to get the lines cleaned out.

A 83 Ford LTD Country squire. Any guess as to what I'm going to do with it?
Ill probably freshen up the interior of 712 and sell her as non running. I really wanted to restore her to her former glory but I just won't have the time to put 100% effort into her.
I'd really hate to part her but I'll give it a few days until I decide what to do.

Hey guys, I've gotten quite a few emails from people wanting to buy 712 so I don't have to part her.
I originally bought the car to restore and flip. That being said I'm going to post her up on ebay sometime this week.
I just spent all day working on her. I have the interior completely pulled ready for a recover. (which I still might do to up the bids)
I'm going to price black leather tomorrow. (enough to wrap everything after fixing the cracks)
After the interior I really don't think it will take much to get her drivable.
I'll also be putting on the RF from the Rally D on her so the new owner wont have to worry about finding one.

Started listing some of the bigger parts on ebay. Not sure what one would pay for a gas flap hood so I started it high. But everything will be OBO. In the meantime message me if your looking for anything.
