Pic request: Grey leather-wrapped binnacle

Dave- your pic looks just like mine from DMCCA (circa 2004 or so) - I don't think it is padded. You've seen it.....what did you think.

"Jimmy" - At the time I got my binnacle, DMCCA was doing leather dashes, as well. Actually, they don't do them...they have a local artist do them and I use the word artist because the ones I saw were exceptional. It is a very tight fit around the defroster outlets, but everything looked great. I do not know if they still offer that.

California changed that recently. I'm sure they will still do unpadded as well.

We don't do the dashes like that, you'd have to ask DMCCA if they can still get it done.

Mine is wrapped but no stitches.
It had a serious crack in the middle.
Looks all ok, onnly at the dravers side you see some of the material folding. I have been meaning to seal that nicely. I was going to do that this winter, but I forgot.

In our case it varies slightly depending on the condition of the core. $369-$400. We don't do core exchange, you send yours in.

I believe DMCCA is $369, but you would really need to ask them.

I'll need to see one in person, but I think they look really good. I like the DMCMW stitching....seems a little bit more "subdued."

Hopefully I'll get a good look at a few at DCS; I'll have a new fiberglass repro with me, and if I prefer the leather-wrapped, I'll be looking to sell/barter.

I wonder how much a local boat upholster would charge here in Freeport. Just to wrap (and sew) my bondoed , almost perfect, binnacle. I was going to plasti-coat it but a chip came off it and i figure it's worth a shot at least to go ask. Hell, I can't see it beeing anywhere near $200-300.

Depends on the cost of local labor. And I've seen a few pretty dismal attempts from people who were supposed to know what they were doing.

That looks really nice. I like the grey stitching a lot. There was some talk in the other thread about why DMCCA did white stitching instead of grey, and the logic was that the center console has white-ish stitching, so it would match better. I can see their point, but in a photo by itself I like that grey stitching better. Would be interesting to compare in real life in a car.
