I didn't know these existed. I would never try to rebuild one myself, although I find it interesting this appears to exist as a kit.

We sell more of these than I can believe. DIY fever is dangerous and owners feel that they can tackle this. I advise strongly against it most notably being told that "the porsche guys can do it".
Conservatively 80 percent are sent in for a rebuild anyways. The shims are one time use unless you purchase through any other vendor besides DPI who can't seem to get the picture that the shims distort...... We are the only two that actually rebuild the units properly. This goes for CPR (warm up reg) rebuilds as well. We were able to acquire the original diaphragm specs directly from Bosch and manufacture a crucial internal piece that should never be reused.
This will be a mute point soon as K jet will be dying a terrible death very shortly. It is no secret that key components are running dry at this point.

Cheap parts buy but a very dangerous fix!
You can end up with gas filling up your VOD and your poor delorean catching fire.
Do not attempt to fix your self!!!

Will we have to use carburetors?!

Josh:
1. How soon do you estimate is "very shortly?"
2. What parts specifically are running dry/going extinct?
3. Does this take into account other vehicles running the same components or just vendor supply?

Frequency valves and injectors are the two big ones. Also the most important. I am down to less than 100 injectors as of now. I have a quote directly from Bosch to put these back into production.... I would much rather go efi as the cost of producing the injectors through Bosch is extremely high. Are there other viable solutions while keeping K jet? Yes but the correct parts are getting down there. Pricing on injectors if produced with a VERY small mark up will be 89 per injector if we were to go with it.

Given that the FV appears to be nothing more than an early generation EF injector with a hose barb nipple at the bottom. Has any thought been given to modifying a standard multi-port EF Injector to except the hose? Theoretically this would work in my mind. So what am I missing?

I always love it when people talk in the third person. When you say WE , who else are you referring too? would that be CIS-Injection?

IMHO we are still a ways from extinction as far as K-Ket is concerned. Yes, there are many Delorean specific parts but I am sure we could find more popular and plentiful cross/references that, while not the exact, perfect part, will suffice. In the meantime when prices go up more parts miraculously become available form "private" hoarded stock. After that people find a way to fix the unfixable. In Europe they made MILLIONS of these motors. As the price of parts increases and the availability decreases, the value of a nice, good running car will also go up since it will cost all that much more to "revive" dead ones. Meanwhile the value of the dead ones will go down because of the additional costs to get it running. As an example just look at torsion bars. As the stock gets scarcer the prices go up and people find alternatives.
In the Lotus world they have just about depleted all of the "correct" fuel injectors. Now they don't replace them just because they are old. They test and clean the old ones. People learn to take good care of parts that are expensive and hard to get.

We "dpi" as a company are the only ones to use new shims.

To clarify what you said. We are the only TWO that actually rebuild the units properly. Who is the other Rebuilder you are referencing ?
