I saw that article too but was struck by the fact that it didn't have any photos. Unusual in this day and age.

Interesting article, sadly too many writers don't take into account the context of when the car was made. Yes the 85 mph speedo seems a little odd now, but it was the norm 30 years ago. the interior is a little cramped today, but compared to similar cars of the period I think it is remarkably well done. But then again I may be a little biased.

I've never gotten all the gripes from automotive critics regarding the DeLorean's interior. When you look at similar cars of the era, ranging from the Corvette to the 911 & Esprit; I think the DeLorean is actually a far more modern looking inside. I feel the 928 is the benchmark of the DeLorean's peers in regards to materials, fit & finish, and design. But at the same time, the DeLorean light years ahead of some of it's contemporaries.

I believe the interior is quite big considering the car is only 40 some inches high. Have you tried to open the passenger door from the driver's seat? It's a bit of a stretch. It looks very modern even for today. The only thing that hurts it is the instrument cluster. I never felt it looked right in a car like that.

Also one must not judge the quality of the interior materials too harshly. First of all the car being reviewed is 32 years old so it's interior may or may not be all it was back in it's prime. Second, almost all cars of that era used crap materials in their interior. One exception was M.B. Mercedes Benz was big on "MB Tex" around that time. It was basically a glorified vinyl naugahyde material...but it was GOOD! That stuff was bulletproof and held up well both in appearance and integrity.

Never heard of anyone using baby oil to fingerprint-proof their stainless. Anyone else try this?
