Hi. I am looking for best options to purchase refinished wheels (core exhange) or have my own wheels refinished locally. I want to have the machined/polished finish look that exposes the top surface with a clear powder coat over. I see that some vendors (DMC and Hervey) sell the refinished wheels with the polished look, with the core charge. I am also looking for local place that can perhaps refinish my wheels. I live in Uxbridge MA and wondered if anyone in the New England area has had any luck with getting wheels refinished locally. Any suggestions and recommendations are appreciated.
Thanks,
Paul

I've been considering the same thing and I'll probably end up going with DMC Midwest. The main reason being that I've seen their results first hand and know the silver powdercoating used (prior to machining off the top surface) is nearly an identical match to the original color. They also have great customer service and I like to stay as local as possible. I think all of the DMC vendors use their own local refinishers to do the job, but you'll still be dealing with a company that is familiar with that particular style of wheel and the correct paint colors.
For your own consideration you may want to have the other vendors you are considering show you color match comparisons or samples of wheels they have refinished in the past to be sure you're going to like the end results. The color match of the original silver may be less of an issue to you as it is to me.
I've also heard good things about these guys, but since they are so large you'd have to read up about your own partiular area to see if other customers were satisfied.

I did a quick search and this place also looks somewhat local to you:

If you decide not to go with one of the DMC vendors to avoid shipping costs you could try stopping by your local car dealerships and see who they use to refinish damaged wheels.
Do you have any pictures of what they look like?

Check out what I did to my rims, almost 8 years ago. They're still looking great!

I found this photo I took at DMCMW of the different style wheels they have mounted in their showroom. It's not the best quality photo but you can see the difference between the machined surface wheel at the top and the bottom two which are silver powdercoat.

If you're not familiar between the thin/thick style wheel centers there are other threads on the board that have photos comparing the two different castings.
