Speedo cable support bracket 110528 - need photos

Does someone have a part 110528 with the speedo support not mounted to the car? I'd like to take my existing bracket and have a speedo cable support welded onto it. It should be easy enough to do, but it would be nice to have a few reference photos better than what is on the Houston site if possible.

Could someone shoot a photo of the top view, perhaps with a ruler in the frame so I can make a template, and perhaps a side view so I can tell how far it offsets from the bracket and at what angle? If I can get these I'd be happy to create templates anyone can print out and use...

IO could make some that are close enough, but if a bona fide engineer came up with a design, I'd prefer to copy it as closely as possible.

A lot less hassle considering you need to break open the brake lines to install this and the bracket will probably break off again in a few years. I can understand the desire to have it right, but I've gone through two of these in the first few years owning my car before I gave up on them.

I've tried that part, but when combined with John's Extra Long Long speedo cable, I was getting some rubbing on the front wheel... I was hoping to weld it on without removing the plate actually.

I do have one laying around... I'll try to snap some pictures of it in the next few days if I can remember. Are these hard to come by? Houston has Price: $0.00 for the price...

That would be great if you can. If you can also check the exact spacing between the two bolt holes on the bracket itself, that would help.

I talked with my shop about welding it on the car, and they had a good suggestion - we are going to instead weld it to two heavy 12mm washers. The work can then be done off the car, and it should go on in about 10 minutes - remove one bolt, put the washer in place and re-tighten, then do the other - the bracket can stay in place and I don't crack the brakes. I may add a cross brace as well (this from the guy who didn't want to re-engineer - I know)

I'll post some pics when I have it ready - it should be a quick and easy $5 fix for anyone willing to bend up the steel rod and get it welded. These items are no longer officially available. A few may be laying around here or there, but they are not generally available.

Ed at DMC Europe is reproducing these now. I think he said in our last meeting that they'd be ready in the fall.

If they're breaking on you, there was a modification on the angle of the bracket. Even some of the NOS ones we had didn't have this mod to them, fwiw.

This is what I just fabbed up - On mine I have the arm running more or less parallel to the mounting bracket base, while the photo shows the bracket going in toward the car at about 20 degrees? Which is preferred james?

If mine works it has the advantage that you don't need to pull the whole bracket loose and swap it, just install 1 at a time.

(Yes - I know what it looks like. I actually had to find an angle to shoot it from that was a little less suggestive than the first one I took. And no, its not larger than the oem one, it just looks like it because of the color I think.)

From the photos it appears that the arm is 7 3/4" long, before it bends to go to the base plate, that it deflects 17 degrees inboard rather than running parallel to the fore/aft axis of the car, and that the base of the arm is offset from the mounting bracket by about 1 1/2". The diameter of the rounded tip is about 1".

I'll put it on when I get my new long speedo cable from Rob. Currently my Extra Long-Long Speedo cable is rubbing even with several attempts at cable tying it to the hard brake line.

Going to do a brake job this weekend, and have a bracket to install.
