Does anyone know where I might find cad drawings for time machine parts, or even if there are any floating about the net?
I'm trying to get a set of the big rear vents cut at short notice for the St Patrick's day float... just to jazz the car up a bit!
It'll be a temporary thing, just something that carefully rests on the louvres, and most likely made from very thin steel.

You'd probably best be served by posting your inquiry in the BTTF subforum:

This might help, if the links in the post still work.

If you're planning on leaving the louvers on the car then you might be better off starting from scratch. The overall height of the vents from the top rear peak to the engine cover deck is around 12". If you want the same overall height then you'd have to factor in the height of the louvers over the top of the engine cover. It doesn't sound like extreme accuracy is your concern though.

Here are a few photos that might help

Note that these pics show the bottom sections of the vents as they originally were before they were cut off. The vents ere modified in the mid 90's sometime so the engine cover could be lifted up without removing the lower section of the vents each time they wanted to get at the engine. The lower portion should be nearly flush with the tail lights and at the same angle.

Here's a photo of how the lower sections were modified later on:

Guys, you never cease to amaze - I just had a look at the Gary Weaver files, they seem to be a very good place to start! Mark, you're right, this is very much a rush job - I'll remodel those in solidworks and get some flat patterns, throw in some holes for rivets etc. It's just the vents, no Mr Fusion middle deck etc.

I only have a few days! Better get moving!

Thanks again!

I remember seeing this photo the other day too:

From this thread here:

If you contact the owner he may be able to give you more info on the vents he built.

Heh, that's pretty much what I'm after! I think I remember seeing that pic a while back. Thanks for posting it!

I took the 2d DWG files and turned them into this... just a few modifications needed...
