Here are some pics of the test car and the wooden mockup from the Ulster Transport Museum that I took yesterday. I realise most of you guys have seen this before, but I took a few closeups and some from different angles you may not be familiar with. I hope they're of some interest!
Sadly the car looked in a bit of a sorry state. I know it was incomplete to begin with, but some things have definitely gone walkies over the years.
Also I didn't know the mockup was different on both sides!

Thanks for posting! The mock up was very interesting. I had only seen 2 pics of it in the past and they didn't show much detail.

Nice to see the mockup is in the museum again! When I visited the museum in 2011 (Eurofest), the mockup was in the basement and we didn't get to see it ... I hope it's still there for the 2016 event!

Great pics Martin. I had never seen the photos of the "interior" of the mock-up - very interesting?

Does the 50,000 mile car have a VIN plate still on it?

Wonder what happened to the exhaust piping?

Awesome pictures, this is very cool to see this car :)
I'd love to see it someday...

Good photos as already mentioned, the rear of the T panel is also screwed down into place.

Notice the lack of exhaust as well.

Its a pity the museum dont see right to restore the car to its former glory.

Maybe restoring it wouldn't be the best idea. This car was put through the 50k test...and it shows. That's part of it's history.

That is true... but if they knew what parts were on the car originally that have obviously gone missing now, like the shifter ball and door striker pins for example, that would be ok to replace in my view!

Thats what I meant by restoration as well...replace the items that are know to be missing and leave the car in the state it arrived at the Transport Museum in.

I would even go as far as to replicate all the gear and equipment that the car was fitted with during the test.

Great photos!

It's very annoying that they hide the original proto-1 side of the wood car against the backdrop, really they should flip it around, or at least make it centralised.

Thank you for sharing. The plaque on the 50k car lists some, uh, optimistic performance figures

It was probably based on euro spec engine before our friends at the EPA and DOT got their hands on it.

It's been 33 years and I still can't forgive them

I'm sure they're not holding their breath.

I'm sure they're not holding their breath.

I'm sure they're not either. Win some, lose some; the EPA sapped the life out of the PRV but at least the DOT didn't demand DMC tack on some huge bumpers :)

Sorry to MML for venturing off topic
