Front Shocks Available? Crossover List?

Okay so I've had minimal luck locating a set of good, used shocks for my D (but if anyone reading this has any, PM me) so I think I am just going to have to buy a new set to replace them. Honestly, not too concerned about the ride quality, handling, etc. I don't do anything but drive carefully with my car, so performance isn't an issue for me.

I know the rear NOS are still available, so that takes care of the rears as far as replacement. However, what are people currently using for the fronts?

Keep in mind, I'm talking about strictly plug and play front shocks. I don't want to have to do any customization to them, I just want to buy a set of front shocks that will install right out of the box, and fit just fine.

I'd like to keep them as cheap as possible as well, since again, performance isn't a huge issue to me.

Louis on DMCTODAY just installed KYB GR-2 shocks that were $20 each on ebay brand new and he is saying they were just about as plug and play as can be, the stock spacers had to be shaven down a bit but were reused. It's worth a try.
Especially being that they were only $20 each free shipping.

Ive had nothing but bad luck with KYBs, Nasty shocks anyways. front shocks options are pretty limited.

Louis is very happy with his KYB front shocks, and for $20 each, they are definitely worth a shot! Remember, opinions are like assholes, everyone has them, and they all stink.
Whenever there was a difference in opinion, a friend that worked with me would always say "That's why there are horse races!"

I had KYB GR2s on one of my previous cars with adjustable ground control coil overs. They held up great, definitely more of a "feel the road" type set up than a "float on a cloud" feel. Had them on the car for 10 years with no issues. Definitely not nasty in my experience. I need new shocks for my D too and looked at KYB first, but I couldn't find anything that stated that they would fit our car, so good to know.

In the Vee Dub world. (Former '58 rag top here), the KYBs were very good shocks.

for $20, that seems pretty worth the risk of trying to install them. Might have to jump on that. Thanks.
