View Full Version : Delorean & Esprit
I was driving home yesterday and saw this Esprit parked at the petrol station, so I raced home and got the DMC out for a photo op. This is the same Lotus I saw last year, but that time I didn't get a chance to bring my car out. Been waiting ages to get a pic of the two! Great to see such closely related cars together.

The DMC is a low car in the front, but WOW is the Esprit so much lower! Nice pics - great to see the cousins next to each other for comparison.

I wonder if Esprit's louvers are as fragile as ours...
Anyway amazing car! I'm not fond of yellow cars, but that's wonderful!

Remember though that the DMC-12 has a higher front suspension than the Esprit on purpose (whatever that purpose might have been...). Plus the Esprit is raked in the front and makes up for it with concealed headlights.
After all, you chop the front of a DeLorean, you can get it even lower...

Wonderful pictures, thanks for sharing ;)
Good thing about the louvre on the Lotus, you can't open it from outside by anyone.

There are many owners that have a Delorean and another car like a Bricklin or a Lotus
Along the same lines as the OP here are shots of our D flanked by a Lotus Esprit S2 Turbo and an AC Ace at a concours 2 years ago.
Giugiaro's pen certainly carried a theme between the Esprit and the DMC-12. Windshield shape and angle, distinct beltline front-to-rear, the rear louvers, wedge design. As noted by others one difference is the raked hood and flip-up headlamps on the Esprit.
At least the D has some reasonable luggage space up front as a result of the flatter hood and fenders.
