Fascia clear coat

We've finally painted the front fascia and it came great. The fascia was rough when we got it but we managed to strip it, repair and paint it. We even fiber-glassed two steel pieces to straighten the eyebrows. Well it came out pretty damn good :thumbup:

I will post a photo when Im in the shop next.

I would like to know what type of clear coat is appropriate for this piece. The paint is Satin semi-gloss Black plastic paint and Medium Charcoal Grey Metallic which looks amazing and matches stock photos. Most clear coats I've used remained tacky, collecting dust and turning yellow. What do the pros use?

I've painted a lot of cars/parts/motorcycle tanks etc in my garage or shop, but I usually try to let a pro do the clear. It's just too hard to get the area dust free and guarantee a proper coat.

The good thing about clear is that you can usually drop the part off at the body shop and ask them to shoot it when they are doing another clear job. Saves a lot of time and money. When is used to paint motorcycle gas tanks I'd just drop them off and they'd hit it along with someone's car so I'd get a nice factory-grade clear.

If you still want to do it yourself, go to your local auto paint supply shop and have them set you up. The type of clear, reducer and catalyst will depend on your local humidity and temperature.
